    WOW! All this pent-up aggression!
    Some serious verbal a** kicking!
Ready to go for the throat!
    I like that!!!
In the end, God help anyone that would get between us.
    THE BROTHERHOOD LIVES!!!

The Poolees---help them out. The D.I.'s will get their head straight. The wives, girlfriends and mothers on board, I say welcome. They just want to "understand" us. Of course they can't but let them try. It's just their nature.

Marines go to battle, (I'm going to take some heat from this one.) not for our own sake but for the others here that we are talking about. The wives, girlfriends, mothers and kids, (poolees). Let them have a welcomed voice, we know what we're about. We're Marines! One for all and all for one. Semper Fi

Good morning brother Marines. Just a few words about poolees (fvck em) they are still maggots , nothing more , nothing less. They had nothing that resembled a poolee when I signed and went in. And believe me , it wasn't all that long ago. I signed in January 1977 , went in , in June 77. I wasn't no damn poolee! I was proud of the fact that I chose the Marine Corp, And that was my right, but I was nothing more than a scumbag , maggot , skinny little **** from New York state. Nothing more , nothing less. Am proud of these young men that chose the Marine Corp , but thats as far as my feelings go out for them. For all we know , after the first couple hours at Parris Island (I use that because thats where I went , the land that GOD forgot) anyways ,they've already ****ed their panties and they haven't even made it off those yellow footprints yet. And that hour that they get to lay in that bunk scared out of their mind they are cryin for their mommies like that fat bastard in shawshank redemtion his first night in the joint. These little maggots dont deserve a name , their Drill Instructors will give them one , thats their Job. I had a friend before I went in (yes I had a friend , I wouldn't lie to you all) no really trust me. Any ways this friend was a few years older than me , well quite a few , cause he'd already spent his 4 years in the Corp. Everytime I would ask him what to expect, whats it like , all he would say is you'll find out. After boot I found him and thanked him for not telling me. Boot was one of the hardest things I ever accomplished in my life , and I was and still am proud of the fact that I graduated and became a Marine. The day my Senior Drill Instructor called me by rank , the day he called me a Marine. Again , as far as poolees go fvck-em! Cpl Comstock or like the troops use to call me, Cpl Commie , Kill a Commie for Mommy To all my brothers Semper Fi !

Joe T and Barndog....I made that suggestion a long time ago to Shaffer....it went un noticed I reckon....I personally don't know how to write HTML but I figure it wouldn't take a brain surgeon to create that thread FOR MARINES ONLY..then again, how would you keep the wannabes, poolies, civilians and maggots out ?
I reckon anybody can write anything they want to on their profile..
Hell, we might get Alex Baldwin in here under the name of Sgt Pebbles sporting a two MOH's, a Silver Star and twenty five purple hearts......

To the Royal Marine.....if'n your a Marine then no problemo bro....

To Corporal Commie.....GIT SUM MOFO !!!

Hey Nam Grunt I couldn't agree with you more. If you have to ask about the Marines you don't need to be one, Being a Marine is a Honor and a Privilege, I didn't have to ask about it. I wanted to join and I did and it was the best thing that has happened to me.
Like you I was in Nam around the same time as you, I was with C Co. 7th Engrs attached to 1st Mardiv. I still try to locate my nam brothers when ever and where ever I can.
    Good Luck and Welcome Home

Perhaps I may be a little emotional, but as I read all the posts here and on other sites I get tears in my eyes. I am a Marine and Damn Proud of it. What is going on with just hurts.
Although I may agree that this should be just for Marines I understand why it is not.

I try to be a passive kinda guy...I respect evrybody's right to their opinion, we're all entitled to one but I think (and this is my opinion !) this whole issue doesn't really rate the energy being put into it. If you're here to socialize with Marines, great...that's why most of us are here. If you don't want to socialize with the Poolees, wives, girlfriends, cats, dogs, whatever...then don't. The Poolees are here and have their own Forum; when they stray from it, so what? Information is power. This could be an opportunity for all of us to help make better Marines for the future. Learning about the Corps by asking questions seems to me to be the smart thing to do...the hard part they'll have to do for themselves anyway and WE KNOW that's what will make the difference. Whatever the reason for why anybody is here...it's all about choices. I choose to be in the company of Marines and I know who they are. Occaissionaly, I choose to share what I can with others to educate them. Simplify your life...make the choices that suit you, take your pack off and enjoy what there is here for you to enjoy. Complicate your life...moan, groan and complain about the things that aren't really important, foam at the mouth and refill your blood pressure meds. Just a couple more choices !

Awhile back, we were gettin' hit with all kinds of trolls and wannabes who came in just to start trouble. Others came in and start askin' questions without a friggin' clue, never even bothered to talk to their local recruiter! Some of us are still gun shy, I reckon. I still come down hard on the wannabes if they don't listen the first time. Trolls don't last long here anymore because we come down on them fast, hard and ugly.

There are certain laws the must be adhered to whether any of us likes it or not, so we got to put up with some of the little cretins no matter how we feel! LOL.

Well, we've tightened the wire. We also have moderators on this site from coast to coast, so we've got someone around to watch things almost 24/7. I don't know too many sites who can say that.

In addition, I and others have posted, over a period of several months, everything the Poolees and DEPers AND their families need to know in the Poolee and Marine Mentor threads. Because of that, I believe that this site, in addition to everything Drifter and Gunnyg and others have been posting has become a primary clearing house of good solid intel on the Marine Corps. We have more hard to find info in one place than you will probably find most other places.

Now, when one of the wannabes ask questions, I answer and refer them to the Poolee forum and tell them to talk to their recruiter. Consequently, considerin' all of this, we're gettin' a better class of wannabe around here. The kind that might, maybe, be worth spending some time takin' to school!
This gives us a chance to shape the future of the Corps in ways not otherwise available to most of us. They get a chance, through our interactions, to learn what being a Marine might really mean. Kepin' in mind that there is no friggin' way anyone can begin to fully understand without becoming a Marine, we can give them an opportunity to look in from the outside.

We can, and are having an impact on the future of Marine Corps leadership. We have Naval Academy, VMI, NROTC, MESEP, OCS Candidates, PLC students and many others who stop by here en-mass to look things over. We have active duty staff officers and privates looking things over here!

While other sites are flaming each other and starting firefights that no one wants to see, this site has been the quiet in the middle of that kinda ****storm. To me, that is a large part of the Marine Corps, and is at the heart of what the Corps is about. Professionalism and clear thought in the middle of any emergency. While I don't always agree with decisions here, I do my best to go along, registering my thoughts on various subjects using the 'chain of command'. After all, the paperwork that got this site started doesn't have my name on it. As much as I disagree sometimes, I won't be held legally accountable for it.

On top of it all, Shaffer's been workin' on that Marines only forum fer some time now. Figurin' how ya wanta run something like that takes time even IF ya got nuthin' else to do! Trolls, wannabes and everyone else who are not a member of our brotherhood are fair game in there at this point. Other than all that....

    Semper Fidelis, Marines!

    We're good to go.
