I went to the doc, got a hearing test, I think he kinda gave me biasily high results cause i did better than i usually do.
He told me come back on monday and he would either have a letter, or tell me i shouldnt join.
So the ****ing anticipation is killing me, but once i know the answer I will call SGT Go.
IM READY TO GO MAN
Semper Fi to you all.

One step closer, there man. Your perserverance is admirable. Seems like the kind of trait the Marine Corps would want in a recruit. Good luck!

I have had the same problem. Since i can remember ive always wanted to be a marine. Its a family thing. My great grandpa, grandpa, dad, uncles and now my sister are all Marines. Its a family tradtion that i have always wanted to be part of. However in the end of November 2005 my recruiters sent me down to MEPS in Alabny NY and i failed my hearing test. So i went to 12 different specialist to see if there was anything they could do. Turns out there isnt anything. Over the summer i got swimmers ear. I went to the doctors and she said it was just allergies. Turned out she was wrong. The specialist said if it would have been treated properly then i would of been good to go, but unfortunatly thats not the case. My recrutiers from RSS Utica have basically given up. I still have my old recruiter that just returend from his deployment to iraq that is still trying to get me in. There is nothing in this wold i want more then to be a marine. Yeah i can go to college, but who cant? Everyone can be a student, it takes more to be a Marine. So hear i am Class of 2006 with graduation just 27 days away, and no path to go down. After being in a Marine Corps family ive been tought to never give up, and alway pursue your dreams. Failing to prepair is prepairing to fail...Ive spent the last 5 years of my life being an "honorable poolie" getting ready for bootcamp. I was granted special permission from SGT MAJOR in 8th grade to attend Marine Corps meetings... since then i knew that i wanted to be a marine...now it seems like its not going to happen. Any thing you want to know about the marines i could tell you... i would do anything to be a marine... how is it so easy for them to deny me over a 55-65% hearing loss in ONE ear? I still have the other one!

Holly03:
We have been going thru this same scenario with Kildars for a couple of months now. As of late, some of us have given him some letters of recomendation to take with him to the hearing doctor. We believe that he has gone thru his tests again and is awaiting the results. This has had most of us on pins & needles waiting for his replies - still waiting. But, with the Military - patience is necessary sometimes.
If you want to talk with him about this dilemma - maybe he can help since he has gone thru this a couple of times himself. One of his threads, he left his email address also.
We all wish you well in your endeavors!! SF

Amazing
Wow, your admiration is to be respected by everyone who knows your dillema (spelling?). I'm really pulling for you, not just because I admire your adoration for the Marine Corps, but because I have already been medically disqualified (that's what I've been told on Leatherneck.com, I haven't had an official checkup - but who am I to doubt the experience and expertise of the Marines on Leatherneck?).
You make the Marines who've been there, done that, proud, and the one's who will be there motivated. You also make the ones that have been told cannot go ballistic with hope. It's always great watching a good fiction underdog movie, but when you actually see it before you, it makes you root ten times harder.
You have my full-pledged support. Good luck with your tribulations, one day I hope you can, and may claim the title of United States Marine!

First off I want to apologize for not keeping you guys up to date and I apologize you guys have been on pins and needles. I recently lost my uncle and I have spent the last good while in Wisconsin with all of my family, it's been kinda nice getting away from the Marine Corps thing. Anyways, I have a doctors appointment monday at 12pm PST. So right after I go to that I will give you guys an update.
I appreciate your unwaivering support for me, and If I do get enlisted, or even if I don't I'll buy you all a beer :-D

Well he told me that my hearing should be good enough to get into something into marine corps, he said my speech levels are unaffected. (except in my right ear) I asked him if he would reccomend me to the other doctors to get my waiver passed and he said he'd have to think about it (cause i guess that's a lot to ask.) I'm supposed to come back on monday may 28th, for another test to see if I get the same results, (cause i guess hearing can vary from day to day). If he says no, I don't know what I'll do. I'm just going to assume he'll say no, so i don't get let down .
If anyone else has anything else I can do, please let me know. I don't know what the next step will be if this comes back negative.
