So your 30' X 30' was not a typo error! Why so big?!
Use wire and plaster to hand form it and then a clever use of light.

I noticed in your profile you said specail interests are drill. That is great DRILL=DISCIPLINE. Soon you will realize what true discipline is. "All Right Ready Girls? Eat I Said Eat! Count to ten 1-2-3-10 YOUR FREAKIN DONE GET OUT OF MY CHOW HALL NOW!"

Depending on how good you are with those Dremel Bits, Id say get a thick piece of MDF or Poplar from Home Depot, about 3/4" Thick and work your basic shape from there as the background, the globe, or if you can find a good thick piece of Poplar or MDF, just cut and carve what you see in a solid piece of wood, no matter what the size if you give it enough detail.
Someone will see it and appreciate the time and effort into it. Like the ones you see, the wood carvings at the Stores at the base that people sell just outside the BX/PX/MCX/NEX.
