I'm never surprised by meeting Marines

But what service takes so much pride in having served.
Today, on my way back from the store.
I saw this young man, who was with other young man.
He saw my jacket, that's has a large Marine Corps Emblem and several patches.
He address me, with Semper Fi
Turns out that he was active in the late 90's.
He asked me when I had served.
Told him 1957- 68.
He than asked if I had seen any action.
Told him ;
Vietnam and before that we had taken a small cruise in October of 1962 to area's close to Cuba.
As in "Missiles of October".
He then rendered me a salute.
Sure made my day.
That bond that is formed during those weeks in Boot Camp and the wearing of the Marine Corps emblem.
Lasts a lifetime.
