Confused in Marine Corp Geneology...

My active corp time was many decades ago('66-'72). At that time I just wanted to put in my time well, and get back to civilian life. Now that I am a seasoned citizen, I am trying to get more detailed information on my outfit.. I know my platoon, (D.F.) and my company (operations) and 2nd radio batallion, Fleet marine force atlantic. But, when I sent to Sgt Grit for a patch from 2ndrad bn, it said Marforlant. Has the marine force atlantic replaced fleet force atlantic is one part of the other, and are they both part of 2nd marine division. I figure if you want marine information , go to the marines.
