I want to help them leave!

All the movie stars, and freaks, that want to leave this nation while we are at war, and they love peace at any price, I will do anything I can to help them pack and leave for Canada.

Americans flock to Canada's immigration Web site
    Fri November 05, 2004 01:30 PM ET

    By David Ljunggren
OTTAWA (Reuters) - The number of U.S. citizens visiting Canada's main immigration Web site has shot up six-fold as Americans flirt with the idea of abandoning their homeland after President George W. Bush's election win this week.

"When we looked at the first day after the election, November 3, our Web site hit a new high, almost double the previous record high," immigration ministry spokeswoman Maria Iadinardi said on Friday.

On an average day some 20,000 people in the United States log onto the Web site, www.cic.gc.ca -- a figure which rocketed to 115,016 on Wednesday. The number of U.S. visits settled down to 65,803 on Thursday, still well above the norm.

Bush's victory sparked speculation that disconsolate Democrats and others might decide to start a new life in Canada, a land that tilts more to the left than the United States.

Would-be immigrants to Canada can apply to become permanent resident, a process that often takes a year. The other main way to move north on a long-term basis is to find a job, which requires a work permit.

But please spare the sob stories.

Asked whether an applicant would be looked upon more sympathetically if they claimed to be a sad Democrat seeking to escape four more years of Bush, Iadinardi replied: "There would be no weight given to statements of feelings."

Canada is one of the few major nations with an large-scale immigration policy. Ottawa is seeking to attract between 220,000 and 240,000 newcomers next year.

"Let's face it, we have a population of a little over 32 million and we definitely need permanent residents to come to Canada," said Iadinardi. "If we could meet (the 2005) target and go above it, the more the merrier."

But right now it is too early to say whether the increased interest will result in more applications.

"There is no unusual activity occurring at our visa missions (in the United States). Having someone who intends to come to Canada is not the same as someone actually putting in an application," said Iadinardi.

"We'll only find out whether there has been an increase in applications in six months."

The waiting time to become a citizen is shorter for people married to Canadians, which prompted the birth of a satirical Web site called www.marryanamerican.ca.

The idea of increased immigration by unhappy Americans is triggering some amusement in Canada. Commentator Thane Burnett of the Ottawa Sun newspaper wrote a tongue-in-cheek guide to would-be new citizens on Friday.

"As Canadians, you'll have to learn to embrace and use all the products and culture of Americans, while bad-mouthing their way of life," he said.

Idiots. They'll be in for a big surprise if they do get approved. For one, it's not used very often but the federal level police, the RCMP, carry a Writ of Assistance. Its basically an automatic search warrant.

And, if you go through miles of paperwork and obtain clearance for a handgun, they have the right to inspect it on a moments notice. About a year ago a handgun owner put his weapon into the gunsmith shop for upgrades.

He forgot to get a reciept. Sure enough the cops came by to inspect his weapon, to make sure it was properly stored and had not been sold to criminals. He spent the night in jail until the gunsmith could be interviewed.

The consensus is that we know there is a difference in the US Adminstration and the United States. Most Canadians do love the United States. Remember, thousands more Canadians volunteered for Viet Nam and went south, than draft dodgers sneaking up North.

Some of these could be young people between the ages of 18 thur 26 or a bit older.
Some might be from the National Guard or Reserve that had with all these deployments.
49% voted against the present policies of this government.
Not all were Democrats, some might be senior citizens that want to get away from all these high prices, that they have to pay for drugs.
Seeing the news tonight, I saw or heard something interesting, many of the drug manufacters were dropping the price of their stock, when it appear that John Forbes Kerry was winning.
Now it's happy times again for those drug companies because they know it open game on what they charge on the drugs they manufacture.
Not to meant the flu vaccine, that not available here but there plenty up in Canada.
Wonder what it like on many embassies of countries in Europe.
Many left here during Vietnam to study in the Universities there.
    Might history be repeating itself?

    There some students in the State of Colorado;

BOULDER, Colo. — About 85 students remained holed up inside the library at Boulder High School early Friday, saying they're concerned about the direction the country is headed and refusing to leave until they've met with leaders from the Republican Party.

Some of the students involved in the protest, organized after President Bush won re-election to a second term on Tuesday, placed calls to Republican politicians and left messages.

"We want them to reassure us that our fears are misguided and that the government is doing everything in its power to prevent our futures from being destroyed," said senior Brian Martens.

The students said they were not protesting this week's election, but said they were worried about the huge national debt run up during the first four years of the Bush administration, along with military recruitment in schools and other issues.

The students, who brought sleeping bags and enough food to last through the weekend if needed, said they wanted to talk to representatives of GOP Gov. Bill Owens and 4th District Rep. Marilyn Musgrave, R-Fort Morgan, who sponsored the failed constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage.

Students began their protest on Thursday. Boulder police verified with school security officials that the students were allowed to stay overnight and into Friday. Representatives of 2nd District Rep. Mark Udall, D-Eldorado Springs, and U.S. Senator-elect Ken Salazar, D-Denver, are expected to visit them sometime during the day.

Boulder High teacher James Vacca expressed pride in the students for staging the protest.

"In an age where narcissistic college students riot in an inarticulate drunken stupor, you have students here at Boulder High School, principled, thoughtful and yet scared of four more years of pre-emptive war, the Patriot Act and an increase in militarism at school through the No Child Left Behind Act," he said.

Could these be among those numbers citied?

gotta agree. if they want to leave, to hell with them. It takes a real winner to enjoy the benefits when things are going thier way, and then cut and run when they don't like something any nore.

students in the State of Confusion

"Some of these could be young people between the ages of 18 thur 26 or a bit older," of course they are, afraid of being drafted, so they go to Canada. Humm, did someone do this before?

    As far as the students?

I heard they are also worried about the price of toilet paper. Screw those stupid idiots, they are not with mommy anymore and the only thing anyone can promise them is that sooner or later they will run out of food and will have to lleave the school.

But, they will probably trash it before they leave.

If I was in elected GOP official there I wouldn't visit them, I would make sure they are charged with trasspassing and charged for the use of public facilities the cost of what the local 6 motel charges as well as for any extra police, security and other related costs.
