    NCO Marine Corps Sword

I just got a call from a friend who asked me if I know what the meaning of the Star Of David was on the Marine Corps NCO Sword was. Anyone here got an answer for me. I never noticed it before and don't have a sword to check it out.

Your question got me thinking - and I think I have the answer for you (after a whoooole lot of net time).

The placement of the Star of David on the sword in is tribute to the Biblical King Solomon - who the Turks and Mamelukes referred to as "Suleyman" and believed that he had magical powers.

Placing the symbol on their swords and sabers was in reference to him - according to the Metropolian Museum of Art.
