Francis A. Rudenberg, 84, of Gladstone, Michigan
GLADSTONE - Francis A. Rudenberg, 84, Gladstone, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2010, at St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay.
He was born Sept. 14, 1925, in Escanaba and was the son of Helmer "Pat" and Tillie (Lundquist) Rudenberg.
Fran graduated from Rapid River High School in 1943 and then served in the U.S. Marines during World War II until he was honorably discharged.
Following World War II he sailed on the Great Lakes for Cleveland Cliffs Steel Company. He then worked for Shell Oil Company at their terminals in Wells, later in Minneapolis from 1962 to 1979 and then in Evansville, Ind., from 1979 until his retirement in 1984. Following his retirement he moved back to Gladstone.
Francis married the the former Patricia Lindquist on Nov. 24, 1954, at Central Methodist Church.
He was a member of the Memorial United Methodist Church, and the Rapid River American Legion Post 301.
Family was extremely important to Fran and he was a super father and grandfather.
He was a very patriotic man with great love for his country.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Monday, Feb. 8, at the Anderson Funeral Home in Gladstone. Rapid River American Legion veteran's services will be conducted at 4 p.m. Monday at the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel.
Funeral services celebrating the life of Francis A. Rudenberg will be held at 5 p.m. Monday at the Memorial Methodist Church in Gladstone with Rev. Jackie Roe officiating. A luncheon will be served following the funeral services in the church fellowship hall.
Burial will take place in the Gardens of Rest Cemetery.
Memorials can be directed to the Memorial United Methodist Church Building Fund or the Delta County Cancer Alliance.
