Marine Reserves Piloting
Afternoon, Marines
I am looking to pursue a career in piloting, and the military offers many great opportunities for this. I've had my eye on the Marines for a while, as well as the Coast Guard. The issue is that I have goals that do not line up perfectly with the military lifestyle; I'd like to start a family and own some land, and at a decent age.
I was reading on the USMC website and they mentioned that officers are required to enter a contract of 6-8 years if my memory serves me, but that many of those years would not be active duty. I know the usual commitment of a pilot in the USMC is 11 years or so, but my main question is if all of those years are active duty or not.
Cheers

They're all active. Worst case, expect 3 years of training and 8 years after wings before being able to consider the reserves.
