    Question regarding my fathers service

My father passed away recently. He served with the 1st Marine Division during the Vietnam war (signed up, not drafted) He discharged honorably as a corporal E-4 after sustaining an injury on MP duty (is how he told it to me) I am looking at his DD-214 and trying to create a shadow box type memorial of his service for my son and my uncle. The question I have is regarding his "LAST DUTY ASSIGNMENT AND MAJOR COMMAND" the line reads as follows:
    HQSVC CO, 1stMTBn, 1stMarDiv, CamPen 92055

I am having some trouble with the "1stMTBn" part. Can someone tell me what this means, or even decipher the whole thing for me in case I'm wrong? Any help would be appreciated.

He reenlisted and his "LAST DUTY ASSIGNMENT AND MAJOR COMMAND" for this time was:
    H&SCo, 2ndBn, 1stMar, 1stMarDiv, CamPen"
I understand this to be the Headquarters and Supply Company, 2nd Battalion, 1st Marines, 1st Marine Division "The Professionals" stationed at Camp Pendleton, CA. Is this correct?

I really do appreciate any and all help you can give. Thank you all.

1st MTBn is 1st Motor Transport Battalion.

The whole thing is Headquarters and Service Company, 1st Motor Transport Bn, 1st Marine Division, Camp Pendleton, CA.

Also H&S Co is Headquarters and Service Co, not Supply. Although, supply is part of what they do.

Thank you! This is much appreciated. Is it strange that he was a 5711 NBC Defense Specialist attached to a motor transport battalion or is this thing kind of normal?

Not at all. NBC specialists served in all types of units, and an H&S Co would be exactly where they would be found in most battalions.

Thanks all. He will be greatly missed, but we are going make sure his memory lives on. He was extremely proud of his service as are we all and I wanted to find a way to memorialize that.
