Prior service Army wanting to join the Marine Corps.
So a little about my self, I'm currently a Specialist in the Army. From day one of meps until now, I've regretted not joining the Marine Corps. I've been impressed with nearly every Marine i have worked with and respect the organization tremendously. I still have 2 years left on my contract with the Army, and have full intentions of joining the Marine Corps as soon as the opportunity is there. I understand that I will have to complete recruit training and will most likely be reduced to e-2. Both of those things are completely fine with me, the only thing im worried about is how the time in grade will work. Will i technically be a e-2 will 4 years of service? Will I be committing career suicide and hit my RCP(retention control point, I'm not sure what its called in the Marine.)before i can get promoted??
And what are some things I can do now that will help me with the transfer? Especially with points so that I can start trying to advance right away.
Thank you for your time and any advice.

Yes you will keep your time is service, as for time in grade that is some thing you will have to work out with your prior service recruiter
