    Call from a recruiter

Today I got a call from my local recruiter because I previously asked for more information about the corps (Corps) online. He called and asked me a few simple questions about myself (age, grade level, interests, job interests, etc.) He then said that I would either have to call back or make an appointment at the recruiting office to see if I was "basically eligible". I was just wondering what kinds of things I would have to do or that he would have to know to see if I was basically eligible? Any answer would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

You're not going to take a college entrance exam. You cannot cram for the interview. The recruiter wants to know if you can talk sensibly and walk a straight line. Dispense with the "I love the Marine Corps" pitch. Every recruiter's heard this love fest comment. Be sincere, direct and most important of all, truthful. This is not BS time. Good luck.

Just an interview kid.His job is to weed out who cant make it or just aint USMC material. Its the few and the proud. He needs to see you to make a judgement as to your true level of commitment.Be honest with him he will be straight with you join the poolee program and you will be prepared for Boot Camp

They can also see if you look like the Michellin man or the Pillsbury Doughboy. If need be, they can have you stand on the weight scales and get the measuring tape out. Also, they can check out any tattoos you may have. Treat it as a job interview; take a shower, brush your teeth, get a fresh haircut, wear clean clothes and shoes. Be truthful. First impressions are the most lasting. You may be establishing a relationship with that recruiter that could last till you ship to bootcamp.

It went very good I think. I made an appointment and went to his office. He asked me some basic things about what I was looking for in the Marines and basic stuff about myself, just like he did in the phone call. I told him I was looking at being infantry and he laughed a little and asked me why I wanted to do that. We talked about it for a little and he told me some things about infantry. I am now considering whether I want to Infantry or do a communications MOS, such as 0656 (Tactical Network Specialist). I am supposed to meet with him again soon.

    Outstanding !!!

If you can get the scores and a TSSC, IMHO go Intel/Comm.
You'll be glad you did in the long run $$$

Keep us posted and best of luck to you on whatever you decide.
