You know you love the Marine Corps when...
This really belongs in the Poolee Hall but I don't have permission to post there. Of course a supporter/friend/family/wannabe/poolee wouldn't even know half about the Marine Corps that a Marine would know but I think this would be a fun game.
You know who Chesty was, how he got his name, and know at least three of his quotes.
You don't like it when people refer to Marines as soldiers.
You can't find a word to describe a Marine in dress blues.
You get a sense of pride looking at the Iwo Jima memorial.
You laugh at Marines' stories of boot camp but know that if it had been you in that situation, you wouldn't be smiling.
You know the entirety of the rifle creed and the Marines' Hymn.
You use the terms like "unsat", "puke", and "****bird".
You know certain traditions of the Corps.

You work out to Marine Corps cadences
You correct people for not capitalizing the M in Marine or C in Corps.
You were like, "It's pronounced 'coreman', you idiot!" when Obama said "corpse-man."
You feel zero sympathy for recruits getting thrashed in movies or youtube videos because you know it'll make them Marines.
You know Marine Corps/Navy vocabulary
To you, Black Friday does not mean shopping.

You call the cafetiera or restaurant the chow hall,
you say "carry on" or "as you were" in conversation with someone,
you find yourself doing sharp pivots while "marching" around your house or out in public while saying the diddies silently in your head.

Or you still come out of a dead sleep in
a ball position with one hand extended
and the ohter in a drawn fist positon
to nail your better half when she grabs
your foot Sunday in the AM after 40 years.

"Stand to" and "lock and load" still sends your adrenaline through the roof - even when it comes from your inner voice.

You make your rack still first thing even before coffee in the morning ...and you keep doing it until you are finished even though you gotta take that morning leak...really bad.

Yeah its kinda funny when you sit back and think about it though,
she used to grab my foot but I think the straw that broke the camels back
was one night she slipped outta the rack and went to the head down
the hallway, we had just moved into this new apt.
and I wasnt used to the layout yet I guess,
just outta the Nam and all,
bout three four months,
must've ben dreaming she came through the door right on my side of the bed, spooked me outta sleep I drew back and shot my arm out with everything
I had and caught her right in the charley muscle,
wholly **** did she scream,
not only in pain but she was yelling at me in the top of
her little squeaky voice as best she could all curled up on the floor,
try explaining that one away,
no matter what you say,
no good, there she is on the floor damn near crippled and crying
and your like
"oh sorry bout that you caught me off guard and asleep,
I thought you were a gooker that got in under the wire!"
dont work out so well,
she dont touch me anymore,
hasnt for years,
just stands in the door now and yells to me,
good thing I dont sleep with a weapon eh? :-))
