Question
Good Morning Every one this Sandy Proud Mom,
my Son Joined the Marines in July 2011, and he was
in Intel School but failed the Exam and was transfered and now is in Motor Transport i believe. My question is he is only 19 years old his goals is to have a job in law inforcement or a state trooper. Will the fact that he
did not pass the exam for Intel specialist keep him from
his goal. I know even though he does not express it, he is disappointed. He really want's to work with some time of Intel . Will he find the Opportunity later to move forward. He is in the Marines for 5 years i beleive. Thank for any advise I can give him. Also he wants to know if he will ge the Credit toward collegefor a least taking the course.

Your son should actually be the one asking these questions here, however, here goes.
Failing the course for intel specialist shouldn't hurt his chances if he applies for law enforcement jobs later as long as he does a good job in MT and gets an Honorable Discharge at the end. As far as college credit the answer would probably be no as he didn't pass the course. No credit for taking, only for taking AND passing.
The likelihood that he could re-enlist and attempt intel again is very low. They generally only give you one chance at that MOS field.

if he is interested in Law enforcement, maybe he could look into the new Law enforcement Battalion that was just started in the Corps,,with proper time in his field that he is in now, he could shoot for a lateral move into that area,,it is a new field just started, i just got the wire from Marine Corps T V not to long ago,
