red tab on 8-point covers
One of my buddies who just graduated mos school got sent to Pendleton with H&S company as a 1341, and he was telling me about a red tab that his company wears on their covers. Does anyone know what this means? I know he said that he's with a non-deployable unit so would that be it?
Thanks gents!

I was with 3rd Shore Party in Nam...
I know I was deployed.. lol
BTW
1341 is a heavy equipment mechanic... he will definitely be deployed..
The Red patches came about in WW2, front line Marines were staying behind to help on the beach when they should have been on the lines... hence the red patch to signify Shore Party members..
