Promoted to Sgt November 2nd...

I haven't completed my 8000 series while I was a Corporal, however, I have recently been promoted to Sergeant. My question is do I still need to complete the 8000 series? I am assuming that completeing it will help me towards picking up SSgt. Thank you in advance for your answers. Also Happy Birthday Marines! Semper Fi.

Congrats on the promotion and don't forget to update your rank logo.

It certainly wouldn't hurt your chances at promotion to SSgt if you completed the 8000 series. In a tight, competitive promotion environment, you want as many feathers in your cap as possible.

Congrads on picking up the best rank in the Corps! Your Sgt's course non-resident is meant to be done as a Sgt to help pin on staff. Most Marines just do it as a Cpl to get it out of the way.

The diesel is correct, the 8010 series is the promotion prerequisite for SSgt not Sgt. Once you knock out the 8010 series, order and complete the 8100 series. Congrats on the promotion. I too was promoted to Sgt on Nov 2nd back in 2007.

There should be an annotation on your fit rep indicating you have completed all required PME for your grade.
