For female Marines
Hello all, I have decided to pursue my dream to become a Marine . I meet with my Marine recruiter on Monday to talk about the Reserves. When speaking to him over the phone I told him that I was looking forward to taking the ASVAB and finding out what kind of jobs I qualify for. I know that I won't necessarily get the job of my choice. I'm really hoping for something that can put me out in the field so I see alot of action, because this is my reason for joining---to serve and defend my country. He told me that he has something that will be open for me to ship to boot camp in January, an administrative position, for a female to fill. I am curious to know what jobs other female Marines have, and of course any advice and guidance will be greatly appreciated. Thank-you very much.
Regards.

There are numberous occupations in the Corps for Women.
I drove trucks. Your asvab score will let you know what you qualify for. Don't be intimidated into an office position if you don't want it. Some fields only take a certain number every year and may already be full as it is fiscal year and not new year.
You can not be infantry, that is men only. But MP's or intelligence is open to females.

No one is interested in truck-driving CAS3 and her exploits in the motor pool!!!
Females are limited to "non-combatant" MOS's. That rules out all combat arms options including tanks, tracks, grunts, artillery and recon. You can still be a combat engineer, communications specialist or a variety of other MOS's that support combat Marines. If you are going into a Reserve program, you will be limited even further. You can only obtain an MOS that your unit has a need for. So if your unit needs a supply clerk, you will be the supply clerk. If your reserve unit needs a food service specialist, you will be a cook. The great news is that you will also be interviewed by your reserve unit and be given a brief overview on the unit and its mission before you ship to training. So, you will know exactly where you will be assigned, the exact job you will be doing and what your unit's mission is before you leave for MCRD PISC. Based on your address, you may be going to the unit in Red Bank, NJ. Please come back and let us know how it works out.

Added to what six guns had to say is that: No matter what your MOS is, your still a Marine and every job in the Corps is vital to the number one priority which is Mission Accomplishment! I was a Grunt and now a Tanker, I dont think I could do my job with out my fellow Marines supprting me. Good luck

Thank-you all for your adivce. I will make sure I keep you posted on my decisions. In the end all I want to do is be a Marine. To have the title alone is worth more than anything I can think of.

Yeah... I am going in as an MP. I'm going to be a SWAT person, but my dream was to be in the Recon. I wanted to be in the Infrantry. I wanted to be right there on the front line fighting, but, I found out I couldn't and that sucked, so I went for something else that is almost just as cool. Hope you get something great that suits you .

Where did you get the idea you are going to be a "SWAT person?" You are only guaranteed an option, not an MOS. If you are going into the MP option, you will be trained as an MP, 5811, or corrections guard, 5812. What is the MOS number for SWAT? Who or where did you get the info about going in as a "SWAT person?" Something ain't right with those grid coordinates!!!

Your recruiter didn't happen to tell you that you would be guaranteed some sort of SWAT position, did he?
I must have missed that when I read your post. You should realize what Sixguns said is correct...I want to end up being a civilian cop so I wanted to be a Marine MP as well and I researched it, but like I said those jobs do not pop up often for females.
