Chance of getting into OCS?

Hello everyone,

I'm currently a senior in college located in NJ. The reason why I'm posting on this forum and not asking the recruiting officer office is because I'm not a citizen yet and the recruiter told me to contact him after becoming a U.S citizen (Hopefully November 2011).

Here is the questions I have:

How hard is it to get accepted to ship to OCS?

I'm 23 years old, 20 credits left to graduate, GPA 3.3, NO SAT (will probably take the ASVAB).

I'm currently 170 pounds, 5.6" Tall. I workout 5 days a week (Bulking) My current body fat = 17%. I can do 100 sit ups under 2 minutes, run 3 miles in 24 minutes (just started training for the run), and 15 dead hang pull ups.
By November I should be able to do 3 miles in 18 minutes, and 20 pull ups.

I also have a tattoo on my wrist (Cross) 1.5cm x 1.5 cm. Will this require waiver?

First, since you're a senior in college you are looking at OCC. (Just something to keep in mind.)

Several variables are considered, such that no one here will be able to give you a definitive answer regarding your competitiveness. It should suffice to say that OCC slots are not easy to come by. Pair that with high unemployment and a decreasing authorized end-strength. Bottom line: you need to have a solid package to have a realistic shot at competing against all the other applicants. I would advise you to work hard this year to get that GPA up a little higher (3.5 would be nice, if possible), get your PFT up to 280s (you need to max the pull ups and get that run time down to ~22 min max), and knock the ASVAB out of the park -- that is, if the ASVAB can substitute for the SAT; I'm not sure if it can. Not much you can do about the tattoo at this point, unless you want to pay to have it removed. I wouldn't advise you either way, but just keep in mind that if it comes down to you and another candidate with identical packages, and the other guy does not have a tattoo, odds are the other guy will get the slot.

The good news is you have the whole school year to prep. You're planning ahead and that is great. It seems like you have a good handle on where you are as far as PT -- now seek improvement. Develop a plan and execute.
