I might feel a bit awkward... Some help..
So, it's been about 7 years since I got out, and this year I want to take my wife to the Marine Corps ball. Now, here is the dilemma. I know I can wear my blues after reading the regs. (honorable discharge during war time), but isn't it a bit awkward? I mean, how many vets go to the ball in Dress Blues alphas? Is this normal? I just don't want to be in a situation where an Active Marine says, " so what unit are you with", and I am like, "I got out 7 years ago". Know what I mean?
P.S. My wife really wants me to wear it.
Thanks in advance devil dogs.

In my opinion, If you are within the physical standards and grooming standards and don't look like a bag full of nickles, go for it. Just follow the uniform regs and be PERFECT. Brush up on your knowledge and enjoy yourself!

If you can fit in it and look like a Marine go for it. If you look like you got out 7 years ago wear a suit and tie instead. Don't insult yourself or our Corps for your wife's sake.

I say I am fitter than I was when I was in the Corps. I can surely fit into it with no problems and look like a hard charger. But, is it normal for vets to wear their blues at the ball? Has anyone here wore their blues at the ball after you got out?

I have been to many "veteran" Marine Corps birthday balls - usually put on by the Marine Corps League. The only vets I have seen wearing their blues were WWII and Korea vets - and they looked damn good in them! No one mistook them for active duty, though.
Personally, I guess it depends on who is hosting the ball (reserve unit, active unit, MCL...) and maybe check with the organizing authority.

Well, when I wear my blues, I will look like an active duty Marine, so I don't want to be mistaken for that. I think the best thing is for me to wear a tux with mini medals to show my pride.

Young Bucks and Movie Star escorts
What the heck is going on with all these young bucks asking the movie stars to be their escorts? I have to admit some of them are beautiful. Guys as old as Mongoose,Fist and Sgt. Bulkyker are stuck with *****es like Jane Fonda. Don't worry Fist has first dibs. Now beat that one.

I prefer coat and tie option. I look at my blues everytime I open the closet but I'll never put em back on...until I go 6 feet under that is.
