    MOS questions

Ive looked all over and read alot before now. Please dont send me to the stuff at about.com I have book marked it and read it forwards and back. Im looking for personel experiances and peoples thoughts on the jobs.

I would like to be able to deploy to different places and see the world, I know infantry fits that slot, as long as you dont end up in afgan, you get to do alot of different training and go to different places. I know its not really how everyone makes it out to be over there, the hollywood kickin down doors and gunfights idea everyone has.

I would mind doing the security guard program after I get in and move up.

Anyway, here are the main MOSs that im interested in. If any one has real life insight into any of them please share.

I'd like to know things like how much travel, how long A school will be and what all will i take starting out, how likely it will be that i have to wait several months for A school to start up and day to day life in each MOS

0451 --Airborne and Air Delivery Specialist
    0481 --Landing Support Specialist
    1371 -- Combat Engineer
5711 --Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) Defense Specialist
    6199 --Enlisted Aircrew/Aerial Observer/Gunner
0471 --Personnel Retrieval and Processing Specialist

    Thanks

If you are active duty, then you do not get to choose your specific MOS...only your enlistment option (aka type of work you want to do).

For example, if you want to be a combat engineer, then you would enlist under the CM option or construction/utilities which includes several MOSs that you could be assigned. Ask your recruiter for futher clarification.

If you are reserves, then a specific MOS is guaranteed.

That is for 6100 Air Crew stuff. I had that as my second choice but I got my first as Combat Camera. I love my job and I do understand it is extremely important to do what you want because if you hate your job in the Corps your gonna be miserable. So it's good your doing your research.

I work with some 0471s in my office they are all reservists and they seem to like the job. The went to LA for on the job training (OJT) with the coroner. if you can handle death you'll like that job.

I can say the combat engineer and the flight crew are probably the two MOSs you would want on the list but thats just an opinion. So good luck to you and don't settle right now is the time for you to say you want that and wont do anything until you get it.

If I had it to do all over, I would have went 'Combat Camera' as soon as I could have. Or Combat Correspondent.

    Just sayin. :0
