How do I find the group my husband

I am a recent widow of a Vietnam era marine veteran. I am putting together a memorial shadow box for him and I would like to include a patch of his group. How do I find that information on him? He was a helicopter mechanin and door gunner based on the USS Tripoli. Can anyone guide me to where I can find the information I am seeking?
Thanks for any help you can offer.

Look at his DD-214, Semper Fidelis.

Go to popasmoke.com It is a group of guys who are all aviation combat veterans. They also have tons of unit patches available. They are very high quality.

Thanks, I have his DD214 but I can't understand what it is telling me. I still don't know what group and what patch they used. I guess I don't know how to interpret it.

It says "HML-267,MAG-16,3dMAW,FMF 01267". Could part of that mean 3rd Marine Air Wing?

How do I tell which one?

Thanks for your responses. You are being a great help to me but I have one more question.
How do I tell which one he was in at the time of his Vietnam service? I am going to have a jacket done with patches and I am limited to only one patch there. I want it to be as authentic as I am able to get.
I am going to embroider words stating that the jacket is a memorial for him.
