You'll have fun there, don't mind me and my politics... I watch the news too much. Pendleton is surrounded by desert, but it's still driving distance from LA, San Diego, Oceanside, and Riverside. And if you're real zealous camper... there's Big Bear National Park. There's beaches, lakes, hiking, camping, and your favorite pass-time...shopping. LOL! I think you should have no problem fitting in. Ooh... you better start getting your references and resume together if you're off to Cali in December. You could definitely use your contacts from Barbizon in California. And Cali I bet David is going to love all the new toys for work he's going to have. OH!! Be prepared to be apart for a good deal of time ... Pendleton deploys a lot! And make sure to stress to him the importance of calling home. Just because he's gone doesn't mean life stops for you and you're going to have the daily grind. Tell him Travis said he will smack his head if he doesn't call you regularly while he's gone.
Wait a minute I thought he was getting out. Did he change his mind or are they doing to him what they did to Travis and trying to force a re-enlistment on him? 63% manning for Travis's field and this dick-head wouldn't give him just a month to think it over and set all affairs straight before we moved. A big part of me wanted him to just tell the monitor to go fly a kite and get out, because the monitor needed him not the other way around. I was very tempted to call my cousin Jeff and ask him to look into this guy because he seemed so shady and was not following any standard protocol. Jeff is a full bird at HQ USMC he works for the IG. BUT a bigger part of me wanted him to stay in because he loves being a Marine and Yes he would have made 4 times more at Cisco or as a GS-12 at CC, but would he have been happy with it? I don't think he would of. Besides what it comes down to, and I hold true to this, if you can't love and believe in the work you do then you should stop and find something you do love because nothing will be worthwhile, you'll always be unhappy and it will spill into your personal life. He was so stressing about it and I told him, whatever he decided I'd stand-by and support him because his choice would have huge effect on Sala and me. He needed assurances that we weren't going to be unhappy or resentful later down the road. ***Oh yes, ahem, I said I was getting off the soapbox***
We are working hard around the house and Travis has been in classes and has to get spun-up on stuff at work. Lots and lots sh-tuff to set straight, he's ready but not prepared for all of it. Sala is getting excited about school. We got a new puppy, Thai Ridgeback/Lab... we think it's Lab. He's a 10th the size of Diana and she wants to play with him... but she scares the crap out of him and she always ends up stepping on him when she chases him.
OK That's it for the updates I am supposed to be sending pictures to my parents(-in-law).
We miss you guys too... Travis said he has knuckle heads to work with now so he really appreciated how easy it was to have David as his Marine.

Very well, this is outstanding info. I'm trying to figure out the best way to get above 10k for a MT Climb or "hike" for training, so far nothing in or around this area. I have been looking at all the state parks and trying to find a challenge. Also looking for some sweet rock climbing, we get to use the UAB gym for free in a month or so and it has a nice rock wall climbing deal inside but If you know of any good areas with in 2 hr driving distance to get my training on lemme know. LATE!
