Nothing like a good boot stomp to the throat to start your morning out right. . Seriously though the only thing I got out of MCMAP was extra PT, and sore abs. MCMAP sucks ass unless your few levels higher. Thats when you start learning the cool shi$

The Knife Hand is a classic. Always wanted to really try that on someone, always thought those dudes that stood outside of Wal-Mart that try and scam you for money would be worth it. I can see it now some bum walks up, asks for money, and then WAAAMMMMMM!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Direct Knife Hand to the throat haha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Marine Corps is a rare institution with legendary abilities; namely it can make any cool event into a totally gay fiasco that murders the morale and motivation of all participants save the few useless non-fighters who do nothing but train others rather than fight wars themselves. Things like shooting guns and martial arts are normally associated with a good time, but are made totally gay by the military...especially when done in a large group. If your in a select MOS with and/or work in a small unit training becomes what is often coined as "gentlemen's courses" basically meaning those involved don't lose their minds and make it a painful evolution.

I had a buddy who was Army Special Forces, he truly was a bad ass. I would never try and take that fugger down in a fight. However I still think sharks with lazer beams is the ultimate defence.

Hahaha that is toooo true. And I thought a job where I got to shot guns was going to be cool....
HEY Marine, proper weapons carry at all times. Well b!tch, that's easy when you have a pistol and my a*s has a SAW.
Hey there devil, where is your 8 point? I'm sorry Sgt Maj, but I just spent the last 7 months living out of my day pack and getting shot at on an almost daily basis. I guess an 8 point wasn't on the top of my packing list. Well you better sh!t one there sh!tbag...

    Ahhhh...I love the military.

In all honesty, I think eye gouging is taught at brown belt....at tan its an eye reap, aka eye pokey. Knife hand strike should be, if memory serves, a stun to the brachial plexus origin, or tie in. That shouldn't even be a knife hand strike, should be forearm b/c MCMAP is supposed to be "battlefield" fighting skillz, or some such bs, so one would think gross motor skills would be emphasized. If that were the case, that strike should be done with the ulnar side of the forearm...this allows one to strike heavier/with more weight as well as gives one more leeway if they miss (hence gross vice fine motor skills)...as in if you miss with the forearm you can still get badguy with you knifehand...but if you miss with knifehand you get nothing. But I digress....

    Hiiyah!

Couldn't agree more. It was devestating when congress didn't add fricken sharks with fricken laser beams attached to their fricken heads in the last defense spending bill.

It is what you make it, all kidding aside. But it is good training for your toolbox.

I used to laugh at the hand-to-hand line training that we got back in my day. But I always enjoyed getting out there and getting dirty, learning something new, and kicking some idiots in the platoon's azz.

But I'll admit deep down inside, I always thought it wasn't good enough, "it" being the training.

Then one night I was working part-time as a doorman for a club in VA and I realized how valuable it was. Whether I realized it or not -- all those years of doing line training made it muscle memory when I had to react. Long story short, a person was asked to leave the club and he resisted. So they "escorted" him out, but as they were doing this he got frisky and went for the pocket-knife that he had in his front pocket. I was standing at the door watching this whole deal go down and I saw some hand movement from the perp near his pocket and then I noticed something shiny coming out, at that time my mind told me it was a threat, and I reacted. Ultimately, after a grab and twist I was walking the guy around like a dog with the arm bar that I put him down with.

I have never used the training since, but I suspect it's still "there" and the point of this story is when you stop thinking you start reacting based on how you have been trained.

Approach the training like that and you might learn something so you can do something with it someday.
