The only problem I see with putting kids in the military straight from high school is some can't deal with being out on their own with no real world experience and they're usually the ones that freak out in boot camp or get themselves in trouble at A School with underage drinking or racking up large amounts of debt and some don't even know how to wash their own laundry. And I've actually met individuals who suit each of those problems but there are those who do learn to swim when you throw them in at the deep end that I think are the redeeming factor for our teenage service members but as we know they cannot be mass-produced.

During Vietnam, I trained many draftee's and the majority of said draftee's were good recruits that graduated as Basic Marines. They were much less of a problem child than your basic Mama's boy right out of high school. I would say it was because they for the most part were older and more mature.

I think that mandatory service is a plus for the U.S.

It's sponsored by that asshat Charlie Rangel from NY. Sum*****, like most democrats, have giant ass plans, but no funding source to pay for them. I don't want one person who does not want to be in the military heading to the war with me that does not want to be there.

This not only gives them a good idea about the military as a career, but it teaches young men discipline and responsibility that otherwise wouldnt get that or ever want to join the service. I personally wouldnt be joining the US Marine Corps if it wasnt for my time in the Finnish Marines. I was somebody who had never shot a gun before the service, (which i can blame on my artist parents), but fell in love with the calling and the lifestyle. I wouldnt have ever known if I hadnt have been forced to do it. Hell, over half the population in US owns a gun anyway- WHY NOT TEACH THEM TO USE THEM?
It might have worked out for you being FORCED to join in your nation, but here in the land of the crybaby/sissywhiners it will not. We've had an ALL VOL force since 1972 when Tricky Dick Nixon ended the draft and it has gotten us stellar results. Don't fix it if it isn't broke. I don't know about your nation, but ours is full of people who refuse or fake getting out of jury duty. I can't imagine the bull**** excuses people will use to get out of military service.

    1) Israel has to as the life of their nation depends upon it.
    2) Russia has to do this because working conditions and pay are **** ass poor and nobody wants to serve.
    3) The rest of the fukks haven't won a war worth winning since the 1800s and the rest of those fukks are socialist states where handouts and control of your life is part of the plan.
