    HOF P Bob Gibson Curveball

    UNHITTABLE.

I talked with my dad a while back and asked how in the world did Bob Gibson lose any games with a 1.12 ERA (still the record).

He wound up 22-9 that year

13 of those wins were shutouts.

The Cardinals' offensive output was pretty sporadic. They only led 1 offensive category (triples) and were second in only two categories (doubles and steals).

Damn, 13 shutouts must STILL be the record also. Imagine if these steriod guys had to face him? Or worse, if he was taking steriods?

    Curve Ball

I read some where, that He had an unbeatable 'Spit ball'. The Umpires just couldn't figure out how he did it! S/F!!! Ken

Gibson also had a 100 MPH Fastball that was unhitable.

Gaylord Perry had a spitter that was unbeliveable.

Couldn't even pay this Man to pitch today. These guys today don't even pitch 5 innings without bullpen assistance.

I see that Gibson had a few years with over 300 innings and a few in the upper 270's - 290's

And he was facing Men like Clemente, Stargell, Mays, Aaron, Cepeda and Mcovey....The to win a WS he had to face Mantle, Maris and Yaz

Here is my son throwing a mid 90 mph wiffle ball.

He plays wiffle ball tournaments for fun, seldom makes any money at it, his hard ball days are behind him.

I can't even hit a foul ball off him, so there is no sense getting me in a video w/him pitching.

Here is more of him throwing.
