Surgical Plate on Collarbone
My fiance is gearing up to deploy to Afghanistan soon. My question is, is he fit to deploy? He shattered his collarbone in Sept 08 due to a BMX accident. He has a metal plate holding the bone together currently. He's gotten his range of motion and strength back but carrying heavy loads does cause pain. Also if any metal such as a necklaces of rings, comes near his plate it causes him pain. I don't see how he is fit to deploy under his condition. He says he's ok to go and that his unit is allowing him but I'm not sure if medical even knows about the plate because when he got hurt he was in his IRR time and not reporting in each month for drills.
