Independence Day by Martina Mcbride, duh!

Actually if you really listen to the words of "Independence Day" it's about a woman trying to get out of an abusive relationship with a drunk. It just so happens she stands up for herself on the Fourth of July. House burns down and kid goes to a county home. Not exactly what I think of as "patriotic."

Marines, I can't imagine what the reception to this might be, but I am just replying to the thread, best I can. In 1939, I was 8 years old as Hitler was making his moves. I distinctly remember all of us, young and old alike, were distinctly afraid we (the US) might lose this struggle. And we were all pulling together then, as best we could. One of the popular ballads of the day was: "Heil Blurton, Heil", directed toward Adolph. Sometime much later on, maybe just before Johnny Carson hung them up, I heard Doc Severenson very professionally provide stanzas of this once popular ditty, on the Johnny Carson Show.
