No, I used an official request form from Marine records Missouri
I tried via internet and it wouldn't allow it to go through.
This is ridiculous to take this long! over 370+ as of today

I sent in a request for my records about 20 years ago and it took over a year to get them. Our government is slow.

Consider calling the national records center in St Louis, I forget the actual name. National Personnel Records Center? Good way to cut through some of this red tape.

Going through the National Record Center in St Louis is the much better route. I've always had fairly fast service. I not only got my records, but some of my dad's (his Army records were destroyed in the fire there but I got his Marine files), and I've also gotten records on a bunch of other Marines helping a friend with research on a book.
I also got the records on my old chief of police whom I always suspect was puffing up his experience and claiming to be a Viet Nam vet. Guess what? He never got closer to Vietnam than Camp Pendleton during his two-years in as a draftee.

314 801 0800 is their customer service line, including questions about the status of a request already sent to them.

I made a copy of all of my service and medical records right before I retired. I also use to go to Marine On Line and view records such as fitness reports, SRB info, etc.

That's a smart way of looking ahead, so as to have all that paperwork on hand.
