A Word of Warning From Long Ago

"A general dissolution of principles and manners will more surely overthrow the liberties of America than the whole force of the common enemy.
While the people are virtuous they cannot be subdued, but when once they lose their virtue then will be ready to surrender their liberties to the first external or internal invader."
    Samuel Adams

Very true, what foresight the men of that day had. Perhaps they are the ones that should be called the greatest generation. Just saying.

Even back in our day, I've always described it as "self correcting," meaning if anyone got 2 out of line they'd be corrected immediately. Now we've got all these cry-baby whiners, the draft dodgers and such. I used to tell others 2 feel sorry for the little f'ers as they were born with a birth defect - no balls.

Now, a lot of the young female hippies weren't that bad. I dated one while at Pendleton before my vacation in the Nam. She was a lot of fun, she even missed all the weekend peace marches before I left so she could spend time with me.

She wrote me my entire time and when I got home we met for coffee. She told me she hoped I didn't mind but she had married one of those draft dodger hippy protestors while I was gone. Of course I said no problem and then she took me home with her and we had one last wild time under the sheets. That free love wasn't bad, f'n hippies. At least I got one of them. Just saying.

I went to a party with 2 of my Marine Buddies. A Navy guy we met took us with him to Redondo Beach (spelling). I saw all these young hippies acting weird. I thought they were drunk. I asked where the booze was. There was no booze. First time in my life I was ever around drugs. Anyway, one young hippie gal took me by the hand and we went down to the beach, it was dark. This gal gave me the fvcking of my life. However, unlike Russ, I never saw her again, but, I damn sure thought about her.....

Billy, I didn't have to see her again brother, you saw her for me. Thanks.
