Texas Gov. Abbott shows completed section of state-made border wall, pledges to protect state's sovereignty

Abbott said the state has raised around $54 million from private donations

Democratic lawmaker calls border wall '14th century solution'

Rep. Henry Cuellar, D-Texas, compares the border wall to a fence, claiming it won't help the border crisis

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott debuted the first part of the state-made border wall Saturday, which he labeled a sharp rebuke of Biden’s "failure to do his job."
Abbott authorized the building of the wall six months ago, and then authorized $3 billion funding for the Texas Facilities Commission to bolster the building effort. Abbott stressed that the wall stands on either state land or land that private owners agreed to hand over for the wall.
"Texas is taking what truly is unprecedented action: A state to build a wall on our border, to safeguard the sovereignty of our state and of our nation," Abbott said during Saturday's press conference.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, Land Commissioner George P. Bush, and Texas Facilities Commissioner Steven Alvis watch a section of the border wall go up following Saturday's press conference.

"Already this year there have been over 1.2 million people apprehended coming over the border illegally," Abbott said, noting the number did not include those who entered undetected.

He also raised the fentanyl crisis, saying that state authorities have seized "enough fentanyl to kill every man, woman and child in Texas, California, New York, Illinois, and Florida combined."

Texas has therefore deemed it necessary to take action and establish a border wall, which is composed of steel bars. A TFC official said the materials and labor will come from local sources, including the steel used to produce the bars.

Abbott pointed to billions of dollars worth of material from the federal wall project that remains unused, which he said the Biden administration has not agreed to turn over to help with the project.

Abbott described the wall as just one part of a "multi-pronged" strategy, which will include efforts by the National Guard and the Texas Department of Public Safety to apprehend individuals who illegally cross the border. Texas Land Commissioner George P. Bush praised the speed with which building started and progressed, pledging to continue that pace.
To demonstrate the building capability, Abbott ordered a section of the wall raised after the press conference - a process that took only around 10 minutes as a crane slowly erected the wall segment, then workers secured it at the base.

"Once it is completed, it will have multiple detection devices," Abbott said, adding that the additional detection will allow swift apprehension.
"People we apprehend will be charged with trespassing to the state of Texas, and those charges will lead to them going to jail," he explained. Texas has researched a "pre-defense" for any criminal proceedings to ensure that "all procedures will be followed."

Abbott also directed Americans to a website where they can donate to the border wall funding, which he said has already totaled more than $54 million.

It's about time. We know we cannot rely on the federal government for anything, with the exception of unlawfully imprisoning citizens and putting America last.
Hopefully more states will follow TX lead.

I would like for someone to name one Country that doesn't enforce border control. Show me one Country that lets any Joe shet the rag man just wander in and take up residence. It's out of hand when 90% of American Citizens are against open Borders, but, the Liberal Government says fvck you. A Government that is elected by those same people. We are in desperate need of a "States Convention" to completely overhaul our Government. Or a Revolution to rid our Country of Anti-American scums....

      Mongoose and other Texans,

Read this article from the Army Times. The author is not kind to Gov Abbot.

Chris, I'll say this.....when a person joins the Guard or Reserves, they know that they can be activated at any time for any reason. They know that. Also, I wish I had been able to sleep in a vehicle instead of on the wet ground, like was normal in Nam. Also, those who think that this is political, don't live in a State where hundreds of thousands of illegals are infiltrating every town in Texas. You don't know if they're criminals, drug dealers, child molesters, rapist, or murderers. As far as the suicides....they are in every State. Military suicides are up every where you look. I wonder, down through the years, how many military personal in the Guard and Reserves, had a great time where they were sent when activated. Or how many had to leave their wives and children and jobs, but, never committed suicide because of it. Seems to me that taking your own life for doing something you "VOLEENTERED" for and not getting the "Heaven on Earth Job" you wanted is the sign of a very mentally disturbed individual. One that shouldn't have been in the Military to start with. The Author of this issue needs a lot more insight than he displays ......

Perhaps he does, but the author is an officer in the Texas Army Guard. I'd think he has at least a little insight.

I spent 14-years in the Michigan Air Guard. I was federally activated three times for out-of-state deployments and the most notice I got was about one month prior to going to Desert Storm for six-months. No, it was not easy on me or my family as our income dropped even getting E-7 pay, combat pay, (no taxes), and housing allowance. My wife had to get a full time job to make ends meet. I did know my job was safely waiting for me (police corporal at the time).

Actually, the worst part was dealing with the active duty Air Force people. I was so tempted to take some of those weasels out behind our armory bunker and beat them senseless with an e-tool. I refused to go to a combat zone with those worms ever again, so I retired from the Guard a year after we got back. The stories I could tell you would upset you, Advanced, Jack, and others, no end.

What a feckless Biden Administration we have. They will pay in the 2022 midterms and the 2024 Presidential Election.

      Kegler,

I agree they are as feckless as they come. I truly hope 2022 and 2024 will be horrible years for our socialist/communist "friends." Sometimes I think that they should be rounded up and placed in the camps they seem to think we deserve. But that would make us just like them.

Chris, Politics only plays into this issue because the fvcked up Federal Government won't do their job. Why? Because there is more to this than most people see. NY State is now allowing illegals to vote in Local elections. A little here, a little there, then all of a sudden it's everywhere. Do you think it's political that Abbott has started to build a wall. Do you think it was political that Trump started building a wall? Or do you see it as I do.....that the Liberal Idiots make every damn thing they don't like, political. Also, Abbott is untouchable in the Governor race. We were doing great until azzhole Obama took office and started the "Catch and Release" bullshet. Trump stopped it, Biden started it again.
Chris, let me say this, you're my Brother, but, being the nice guy and not wanting to be like them has never ever won a Battle or a War. You have to be just as nasty and violent as they are. You know this. Abbott has made a lot of Socialist Democratic Government mad as hell. Even Obama called Texas a Hostile State. Why, because our Governor and our State will not kiss the azz of the President or any of his Lunatic Administration. I could go on for months, but I guess I'll stop for a while. Merry Christmas to all my Brothers and their families......God Bless.

I agree with you, Billy. You've got to be plum mad dog mean (to paraphrase Clint Eastwood from "The Outlaw Josey Wales") to win a battle. Probably need to be nastier and more violent than your enemy.

Something is up on the Tex-Mex border and I'm sure it isn't good for America. I believe Michael Yon when he expresses concern. We need a president who will be plum mad dog mean. That damned sure ain't Biden or any of his partners in crime.

Most people have no idea about the impact this crisis is creating. America, contrary to what liberal radicals think, was established and industrialized by the White race. Which in turn made this Country a Super Power. Not by blacks. not by Mexicans, not by Muslims, not by Orientals, and not by North American Indians. Most don't think about what our kind humanitarian deeds have produced. Right now.....the White Race in American, is about to be the minority. That is not counting those here illegally. So my friends, if you think it's bad now, wait until we are completely out-numbered. Not just in ho-hum numbers, but in local, State, and Federal Government positions. We are making it very easy for this to happen by sitting on our azz grinning as the Radical misfits in the Government right now are changing every damn thing we have lived and prospered with for the last 250 years. Don't dare say....that will never happen because so many things we thought would never happen, already has. And when the voice of the White Race disappears... so will America.

99% of the citizens in this Country don't understand that it's Mexico that benefits from the illegal Mexicans in America. Down through the years I have worked for several Companies that used illegals in it's work force. It's been argued that illegals help our economy by living here and spending their money here. That's total bullshet. They will rent a house or Apt., but, unlike normal procedure, there will be 15 of them living in a 2 bedroom dwelling. Which means each one only pays a small amount for rent. Their diet consists of mainly beans, tortillas, peppers, and plenty of beer. Here's the kicker.....I have many times on payday, (which is under the table cash) no taxes, taken them to the Post-office where they would send all their money back to Mexico, except about 30 or 40 dollars, which by sharing would last them for 2 weeks. Their families back in Mexico lived very good because at that time one American dollar equaled 22 Mexican dollars. So you figure out who wins and who loses......
