Questions on whether or not to join ?

Hello I've have just finished high school and I am about to start attending a community college in the fall to get my Associate of Arts (I want to transfer to a University, and major in Political Science). So the thing is I have been wanting to join the military for a long time, and since 2015 I was set on joining the Navy. My recruiter seemed disinterested in me this year, and I fell out of shape , and gained a lot of weight. I became somewhat "depressed" for a while, but after graduating it hit me that I need to get a grip on myself , and rekindle my patriotism which was the reason I was interested in the military (although school money wouldn't hurt). The Marines have always been my second choice because of the honor, and discipline.

So my question is should I get my A.A ? Join the reserves midway through college ? Try to do NROTC at a University or maybe get my Bachelors and then go to OCS ?

I have started working out , and I believe that slowly but surely I will reach my goals.

Yes. You should stay in school and complete your AA degree. That should be your first priority.

As for the other stuff, I recommend you go sit down with a recruiter and discuss your options as a Marine. There is no obligation and it will clear up some things so you can formulate a clearer plan for the future.

Depends. Do you know what you want to do with your education? I would certainly continue, but if you are just aimlessly getting an AA, my personal advice would be do 4 years (or more), and go from there.

I honestly really do not know what I want to do (for a career), but I would really like to work for a federal law enforcement agency or work in some governmental affair. As for my major I am pretty solid on PS.

If you want to get on a federal law enforcement track I'd encourage you to pursue computer science or another field like finance. That also may open more private sector doors. Everyone and their mother has a polisci degree, and they are virtually useless unless you are using it simply for the piece of paper. If Fed LE is your goal, they want people with a formal education in something they need.

Case in point. The years I spent on embassy duty with the Department of State, I got to meet/know many of the Foreign Service Officers, and even became friends with a few of them. Can't remember any of them having political science degrees. I remember degrees in economics, agriculture, international studies, etc. Our embassies overseas have attaches, and staffs to assist them. There are always a military attache, agriculture attache, economics attache, etc. These people must possess formal education/training/experience in their areas of expertise. A political science degree does not meet that criteria. If you research, you'll discover the other Federal agencies also recruit specialists - not generalists.

Just join the Navy, maybe more suited to your lifestyle.
