Marine Corps Reserve Units Full. Advice
Hello,
My name is Chris. I am a Junior at Utica College located in Utica New York. I have wanted to join the Marines since high school, but promised my grandfather I would finish college. Now as I am reaching my end of college, I feel I would like to Join the Marine Reserves, while I attend graduate school.
The closest Reserve unit to me is in Syracuse, NY, it is a LAV unit I believe. I called my local recruiter today, and he told me that the unit is full and not currently taking in Marines. I had planned on going the summer before my senior year, summer 2015.
I am sure it is a case to case situation, but does anyone know how long typically a unit does not take in new Marines. How long could it take to open up? Maybe by the time I graduate in 2016?

The recruiter told me to try back in the Spring to see if any openings occur.
