Since, as a poolee, I dont really even know what questions to ask. If you will, please give as detailed as you will make a week by week description of boot. I enlisted in Feb, and my ship date is in Oct. The anticipation of the hell that awaits is agonizing lol Also, were you at Parris Island or San Diego? I live in Georgia, so my fate is pretty well sealed!(I'm looking forward to it though, don't get me wrong!) My father was a "Hollywood Marine" and went through recruit training in the mid 80's. And, although he has given me some insight, I'm still pretty much in the dark! I know you may not remember every detail, but if you will give all that you do remember, i would be eternally grateful!

Congrats on earning the Title and on the promotions! I cannot wait to have the opportunity to join you and the rest of these wonderful Marines, and of most importantly to me, my father, as a Marine! Any way, enough of the sentimental stuff, Thanks!

He may have done it differently, but you can go into Boot Camp as an E-2/PFC nowadays. By referring two friends and getting them to go to the RSS and enlist, you can get an immediate promotion to E-2. That's what I did, and I will be entering Boot Camp as a Private First Class.

Oh, and you can also use your JROTC credits from high school, as well as college credits in general. Doing these three things can get you up to E-2 right away. After that, I guess just excel in Boot Camp and the next promotion will come up? Also, note that you cannot stack these things up. I mean, I did JROTC in high school too and plan to take a couple of classes before I ship out in January AND got two friends to enlist. I would still enter as an E-2. There's that.

same scuzzie maggot like you went in.

In case it wasn't clear, that's what I meant. Once you get the uniform and title, you will be walking around one rank higher than the guys next to you, thanks to the credits and whatnot. Obviously you wouldn't run around Boot Camp bossing people around like you're something- you're not even a Marine at that point yet.

I graduated Parris Island back in 67 as a PFC when it was very difficult to do so. Of course I was an extraordinary recruit and I later became an exceptional Marine.
