    There have been many conversations about whether the Drum Major could launch the mace over the main gate and retrieve it on the far side. One person who backs up the claim, especially for Eastney Barracks, Portsmouth, is the former First Drill "Podge" Overbury.
    It must have taken plenty of practice in the quiet hours, and courage when on the hoof, but what a thrill to see it done.

    Talking of Historical Objects, where's that old bastard from the Fens?
