    Mos 1371 Combat Engineer

I'm planning on enlisting soon. I'm wondering how can I get the MOS 1371. I know I would have to go in as 13xx. How is it determined if I get 1371 and if I get to go to the division side of Combat Engineering. Thanks in advance Marines.

Depends on the needs of the Marine Corps. You'd find out
your actual MOS towards the end of boot camp.

Recruiters like to sell the combat engineer idea to get their numbers up. While a combat engineer, I met a lot of other 1300 and 1100 marines and many of them wanted to be combat engineers. A lot of the engineers I met wanted to be other jobs in the marine corps and were suck with 1371. It really comes down to you go where the marine corps wants you to go. About Getting into a division unit, they will again send you wherever the marine corps wants you to go. I didn't find out I was going to be a 1371 until after MCT.

Im actually at MOS school right now, the 1371 classes are really small compared to the 1100 field (which is what i am). I wanted to be a 0621 but i was sent to be an electrical maintenance repair specialist, recruiters lie. Make sure if you can get the actual mos number in your contract so if you want 1371 then make sure it says you got 1371.

Listen to the Reaper. I enlisted for Combat engineers and the closest I came was the handle end of an e-tool as an 0311. When I signed the paper I was "guaranteed" a spot in the engineers by the recruiter. Still enjoyed my time in but read the fine print. Semper Fi
