Something we were just discussing. This is a sad comment on sportsmanship today!

Police: LSU fans attacked following W.Va. game

MORGANTOWN, WV (FOX44) — An attack after the WVU versus LSU football game in West Virginia sent one LSU fan to the hospital, while three others recover from minior injuries, Fox 44 reports.

The Morgantown Police Department confirms that the victims were in a vehicle leaving the game when an unknown person threw a rock at the open window of the victim’s car. The driver of the vehicle got out of the car and began asking a group of people nearby if they knew who threw the rock at the vehicle.

While seeking information, the LSU fans were approached by an unidentified group of individuals. They began assaulting the driver. That’s when the victim’s wife (who is pregnant) and two friends got out of the car. They too were assaulted.
The Charleston Daily Mail reports that the most seriously injured LSU fan sustained a broken nose, a crushed eye socket and other injuries. He was taken to the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center for surgery.

The other victims in the attack only suffered minor injures.

An investigation is being conducted. The police request's that if anyone has information about the attack, call (304) 284-7454.

Their local media didn't even report on her being pregnant which was quite obvious. Too inflammatory I guess. It was only reported here in Baton Rouge.

IMO there should be a man hunt to find these scum bags. There should be national attention on this becuase this is getting out of control. The so called hard core fans are nothing more than thugs who lack common sense an need to be taught a lesson an used as a example why this crap is not allowed.

New South Carolina Uniforms: “Wounded Warrior” by Under Armour

Under Armour created a new uniform for the South Carolina Gamecocks to be worn on Oct. 1 against Auburn, a way of honoring our nation’s Wounded Warriors. The design is similar to what South Carolina wore against Florida in 2009 where the player’s last names are replaced with inspirational words like HONOR, COURAGE, etc. The usual block C on the helmet will be filled in with the camo-based print instead of black. Here are the photos revealed by the school today:

LSU quarterback Jordan Jefferson scores on his first play against Kentucky.

    BATON ROUGE, La. (AP)

Les Miles predicted that Jordan Jefferson's return would not be disruptive and, if anything, would give LSU more ways to move the ball.

    So far, so good.

Jefferson scored on his first play back from suspension, cornerback Tyrann Mathieu scored after setting an LSU record for career forced fumbles, and the No. 1 Tigers methodically defeated Kentucky 35-7 on Saturday.
Jefferson was reinstated this week after a grand jury reduced charges the quarterback faces in connection with a bar fight to a misdemeanor. Jarrett Lee remained the starter.

Miles inserted Jefferson on an early fourth-and-goal, and he dove over the goal line from the 1 to give the Tigers (5-0, 2-0 SEC) a 7-0 lead. Lee later hit
Odell Beckham Jr. for a 51-yard score, their second TD connection of more than 50 yards in two games.

Kentucky (2-3, 0-2) did not threaten to score until LSU led 35-0.

Wildcats starter Morgan Newton missed on his first nine throws and completed only 2 of 11 passes in the first half, when he was sacked three times. Kentucky coach Joker Phillips gave freshman quarterback Maxwell Smith a chance in the second half, but Smith fared even worse, completing only one of five attempts and turning the ball over when he was flattened by a swarm of Tigers.

Mathieu got there first and swatted the ball loose just as several LSU defenders arrived and steamrolled Smith, who lay face-down while Mathieu scooped up the ball and returned it 23 yards to give LSU a 28-0 lead.

That was the third forced fumble this season for Mathieu, a true sophomore, and the second he had returned for a score. The player LSU fans call ''honey badger,'' after the popular YouTube clip featuring the small but ferocious animal, later forced another fumble, the ninth of his career, two more than the previous school mark.

LSU's defense registered five sacks, with defensive end
Sam Montgomery in on two of them.
Although LSU dominated, the Tigers' offense sputtered intermittently. Lee completed 8 of 21 passes for 169 yards and one TD.
Beckham, who scored on a 52-yard reception against West Virginia last week, was Lee's top target against the Wildcats, catching three passes for 72 yards.

LSU gained 179 yards on the ground, led by sophomore
Alfred Blue's 72 yards. Blue scored once on a 1-yard run that made it 21-0 in the third quarter, capping a drive sustained by Russell Shepard's acrobatic third-down catch along the sideline.
Later, freshman Terrence Magee scored his first career touchdown, also on a 1-yard run.

Kentucky did not score until Newton hit
Matt Roark with a 4-yard pass with 6:09 left to play.
The Tigers struggled to move the ball for much of the first half, when leading running back Spencer Ware came out of the game after only five carries. He did not appear seriously hurt as trainers stretched his left leg, but he did not return.

    Running back
Michael Ford, who leads the team in touchdowns, also saw only limited action as Miles decided to go more to Blue and Magee.
LSU opened the scoring on its second drive, when Rueben Randle outleaped double coverage to grab 37-yard pass from Lee to the Kentucky 5, setting up the score by Jefferson, who heard a few boos when he first ran onto the field. Those boos were soon drowned out by cheers when Jefferson scored, and he was not booed again. Jefferson did not attempt a pass. He rushed four times for 29 yards.

The Tigers extended their lead to 14-0 when Lee hit Beckham on a crossing route on third-and-10. Beckham, a true freshman, spun up field after the catch, then broke several tackles as he cut all the way back across the field for a stunning score.

Nation's top two teams meet in SEC's biggest game of the year.

    By: Sean Cartell
    SEC Digital Network

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – In what has become a highly anticipated matchup, the top two teams in college football will square off on the gridiron on Saturday night at Bryant-Denny Stadium when No. 1 LSU takes on No. 2 Alabama at 8 p.m. ET on CBS.

Both teams boast overall records of 8-0, including 5-0 league marks, and both are coming off bye weeks heading into the marquee matchup. Saturday’s game marks the first No. 1 vs. No. 2 regular-season matchup in Southeastern Conference history and it is the first during the regular season in college football since Michigan and Ohio State faced one another in November 2006.

It is the third time that these two teams will meet with undefeated records, as the same feat occurred in both 1972 and 1973. The Tigers are 8-0 for the first time since that 1973 campaign and just the fourth time in school history. LSU also won its first eight games in 1908, 1958 and 1973. In 480 minutes of action this year, the Tigers have trailed for just six minutes and 33 seconds.

“We're rounding into the back end of the week and we've had a good week of work,” LSU head coach Les Miles said. “Our guys have practiced hard putting in the game plan. I told the team that I wanted them to prepare their thoughts at practice today and make sure that they practice how they plan to play on Saturday. It was like a rehearsal.”

Alabama is currently leading the SEC in total offense and total defense as well as scoring offense and scoring defense. The Crimson Tide averages 457.6 yards per game, while limiting opponents to 180.5 yards per outing. Additionally, Alabama scores nearly 40 points per game at 39.4, and at the same time, holds teams to a league, and nation, low of 6.9 points per game.

“We have had a pretty good week this week,” Alabama head coach Nick Saban said. “I think the players have been able to stay focused on the things we have tried to emphasize each day and really tried to keep their routine pretty constant. I think it is critical in games like this, that from this time on, the mental practice, focus and preparation are really important in terms of being able to play well and being ready to play when the game comes.”

    THE HISTORY
LSU and Alabama are meeting for the 75th time in the history of the two programs, with the Crimson Tide leading the all-time series 45-24-5. The two squads first met in 1895 and have met every year since 1965. Alabama holds a 10-8 advantage in games played in Tuscaloosa in the all-time series. Since 1996, the home team in the series has won just six times in the 15 meetings during that span.

    LAST FIVE MEETINGS
    2006 – LSU 28, Alabama 14 (Baton Rouge, La.)
    2007 – LSU 41, Alabama 34 (Tuscaloosa, Ala.)
2008 – Alabama 27, LSU 21 (OT) (Baton Rouge, La.)
    2009 – Alabama 24, LSU 15 (Tuscaloosa, Ala.)
    2010 – LSU 24, Alabama 21 (Baton Rouge, La.)

A LOOK AT THE LAST MEETING
DeAngelo Peterson ran 23 yards with a reverse on fourth-and-one to set up Stevan Ridley’s go-ahead one-yard fourth-quarter touchdown to give No. 12 LSU a 24-21 upset against No. 5 Alabama at Tiger Stadium. Alabama, which led 7-3 at halftime, lost for just the second time in 23 games. Crimson Tide senior quarterback Greg McElroy finished the game 21-of-34 for 223 yards and two touchdowns while junior Mark Ingram ran the ball 21 times for 97 yards and a touchdown. LSU led the game in total offense 433-325.

    PLAYMAKERS – OFFENSE

LSU – Jarrett Lee, Sr., QB

Lee leads the SEC and ranks 13th nationally in passing efficiency at 157.4, completing 98-of-155 passes for 1,250 yards with 13 touchdowns and one interception. He currently holds the lowest interception percentage (.650) of any quarterback in the top-30 nationally in passing efficiency. He has started each of LSU’s eight games this season, holding a 13-4 career record as the Tigers’ starting signal-caller. In 38 career games, has thrown for 3,893 yards and 31 TDs.

Alabama – Trent Richardson, Jr., RB
Richardson ranks in the top-seven nationally and leads the SEC with 123.62 yards per game and currently ranks 10th on the Alabama career rushing yard list with 2,440 yards. He is just the 16th Alabama running back to surpass 2,000 yards rushing in a career. He leads the Crimson Tide with 989 yards and 17 rushing touchdowns. Richardson has a total of 18 touchdowns through eight games this season. He has rushed for more than 100 yards in six of his last seven games.

    PLAYMAKERS – DEFENSE

Alabama – Dont’a Hightower, Jr., LB

Hightower leads Alabama with 48 total tackles on the year, including six tackles for loss, which ranks 21st in the SEC. He is one of 12 semifinalists for the 2011 Rotary Lombardi Award, given annually to the nation’s top college football lineman. Hightower finished with a squad-best eight tackles in his team’s last outing against Tennessee.

    LSU – T-Bob Hebert, Sr., C/OG
Hebert is the Tigers’ most versatile offensive lineman, having seen action on 405 plays during the 2011 season with 57 knockdowns. He has started at left guard for much of the season before taking over in the Florida game on Oct. 8 at center.

    QUICK NOTES

    · LSU is playing its fifth consecutive game as the nation’s No. 1 ranked team – the longest stretch since 1959. LSU is 18-3 all-time in games played as the nation’s No. 1 ranked team, which includes a 6-2 mark under Les Miles.

    · Alabama has started slowly in the first quarter this season, but has quickly turned things around and finished strong. The Crimson Tide has outscored its opponents 243-25 in the final three quarters of games this season after holding just a 72-30 edge in the first quarter.

    · LSU brings one of the top defenses in the nation into the Alabama game as the Tigers are ranked in the top 10 nationally in four major categories – scoring defense (3rd at 11.5), rush defense (3rd at 76.6), pass efficiency defense (5th with 96.48 rating), and total defense (4th at 251.4).

    · Alabama is currently leading the Southeastern Conference in total offense and total defense as well as scoring offense and scoring defense. The Crimson Tide averages 457.6 yards per game, while limiting opponents to 180.5 yards per outing. Additionally, Alabama scores nearly 40 points per game at 39.4, and at the same time, holds teams to a league, and nation, low of 6.9 points per game.

    · LSU is 8-0 for the first time since 1973 and just the fourth time in school history. LSU won its first eight games in 1908, 1958, and 1973.

    · Alabama has won its last nine games by 16 or more points dating back to last season’s Capital One Bowl victory over Michigan State. That nine-game streak surpassed the previous mark in the modern era of Crimson Tide football (since 1950).

This is it! The game I've been waiting all year for.
