What if re-enlistment falls through?

My fiance doesn't think he'll be able to re-enlist and he really wants to. He said that the spots in his MOS (MP) were filled. He's been in for 5 years and is a Corporal. What other options does he have? I want to help and I don't know how.

However, I can say that he'll need to be looking at another job, this is called a 'lateral move'. His career planner will have all the available jobs open to him. That is where he needs to start.
