- Military Biography:
- Sergeant Major Siverson enlisted in the Marine Corps in July 1970 and underwent recruit training at Parris Island, SC. He subsequently received specialized weapons training as a 0331 machine gunner at Camp Geiger, NC. Upon completion of this training, he was transferred to the Republic of Vietnam with 1st Battalion, 1st Marines, 1st Marine Division. Upon return to CONUS, he was reassigned to Company G, 2nd Battalion, 7th Marines, 1st Marine Division, Camp Pendleton, CA. In July 1972 he reenlisted for a lateral move to the administrative MOS and transferred to Marine Corps Recruiting Station, Newark, NJ, serving as the Admin/Operations Chief until 1976. From 1976 to 1978 he served as the Personnel Chief for the Marine Detachment, USS PROTEUS (AS-19) homeported in Guam. From 1978 to 1980 he served with 4th Battalion, 10th Marines, 2d Marine Division, Camp Lejeune, NC and in January 1981 reported to Marine Security Guard Battalion and assigned to the American Embassy, Manila, Philippines. In January 1984 he transferred to Okinawa and assigned as the Admin Chief for 3d Maintenance Battalion, 3d Force Service Support Group and upon selection to First Sergeant in 1986, reassigned to Company B, 9th Motor Transport Battalion, 3d FSSG until December 1986. After completion of the SNCO Academy Advanced Course, Quantico, VA, he served as the First Sergeant, Marine Barracks, Adak, Alaska from April 1987 to April 1989. In May 1989, he returned to Okinawa as the First Sergeant, Headquarters and Service Company, 3d Supply Battalion, 3d Force Service Support Group. Selected for Sergeant Major in 1991, he assumed the position as Sergeant Major, Combat Service Support Element, Marine Forces Southwest Asia and deployed to Saudi Arabia in support of Operation Desert Storm and the Reconstitution of the Maritime Prepositioning Force. Returning to Okinawa, he was assigned as the Sergeant Major for Brigade Service Support Group-9, and in March 1992, reassigned as the Sergeant M
