Rhode Island (Rocky) just lost a son and is going through a hard time. I assume you know that Dave passed away. There a a bunch of us in West Tennessee...we need to organize and meet for coffee one day.

Sgt Ed, I would be honored to be on your friends list. I can't even remember when crossed rifles came into effect. I sure was proud of my first crossed rifles. I know the Corps must have change allot since you were in. I know it has changed so much since 68. I got out in 72 because I thought it was getting soft. How do you look at the newer Corps. We could have just missed a couple times. I was at PI 1-4/56' and left just before the 'swamp march'. After ITR in Pendleton and 3rd Div. on Okinawa I went to Opa Locka (Miami) in the fall of 57'.

I was also that rare, confused rank, buck Sgt.

Hi Ed- I was feeling like an orphan as a Buck Sgt. I don't like Lance Corporal the change to E4. Well I guess we are finally old corp. Ha Ha I never I would
live this long either. My high school buddy and I enlisted together and he put
22 yrs. in and passed away about 5 years ago. I smoked, drank and swore all
my life. I still smoke, it's one of the few pleasures I have left. We also have the shared experience of Parris Island when they used to beat the **** out of
us. I was 17 then so I handled it ok. My senior DI was so brutal and sadistic,
I'm reluctent to tell all because I don't want to besmirch his name as one
