I was told that how ever long you deploy you get double that time to be at home or base. Is this true? How many deployments is average on active duty with a 4 year enlistment? How many deployments is average as a reservists with a 6 x 2 year enlistment?

Nothing's "average" about deployments in the Marine Corps, or the military for that matter. Ideally, there is a 2:1 dwell ratio, but we no longer live in an ideal world.

I was in for 4 years and was home for 18 months. I this was before the war too.

It depends when you hit the fleet and when that unit will deploy. It also depends what mos you have and what kind of unit you're in. So you could be looking at anywhere from 0 to 3 deployments in 4 years. Plus that 2:1 ratio doesn't always happen.
