Recruit Pay?

Im leaving for MCRD PI, in about 9 days. My recruiter told me that the day I leave for recruit training I'll start drawing E-1 pay. I got a friend however who just finished his first tour in the Marine Corps and he tells me that you don't get E-1 pay in recruit training, you get recruit pay which is barely anything, and they make you buy a bunch of crap as well. So who is telling me the truth? Will I get E-1 pay/2 years or less, or will I get recruit pay?

E-1 pray/2 years or less. Your friend may have been in the Corps for 4 years, but your recruiter knows alot more about boot camp then he does. Thats why they say if you get contract PFC its a great thing because you are 6 months ahead of your fellow recruits and Marines and your also making more money right from the get go.
