I turned 17 Monday. About a week before my birthday i requested more information on the marines website. I got a letter in the mail from the recruiter the day before my birthday, it said that he has a package with more information that he will send me once i turn 17.

I have been getting numerous calls from the Army, but nothing from the Marines. I don't want to come across being lazy. I am just not sure if i should wait for more information to come in the mail before i call?

And i am also not sure what to say?

I just want to make a good first impression.

Show the Recruiter how Serious you are and March Yourself down there....

My son turns 17 on Friday. oh joy.

Anyway....you never did say if you want to join the Marines. Secondly, take the initiative and go to the recruiters' office if this is something you truly want to do.

And yes, just march right on in there. You can call ahead to give him a heads up if you want, but showing the initiative and showing up will make a greater impact.

Heck yea kid, just go on down!! save them the postage of mailing you something, showing initiative is a VERY GOOD thing! Happy Birthday and Good luck.

Dilion, when using the word Marines, it will always be capitalized, and you may also want to read the site rules in the poolee and Ask A Marine forums too.

And like the Marines who already answered....go to the recruiting office and talk to a recruiter face-to-face!
