Marine Forces Reserve Band to perform at historic landmark

NEW ORLEANS —

Musicians of the New Orleans-based Marine Forces Reserve Band will conduct a free concert at historic St. Louis Cathedral here on Sunday, Aug. 30, at 3 p.m.

The works of renowned American composer Robert W. Smith will highlight this performance. The concert will include an original composition commissioned by Marine Forces Reserve and is dedicated to the people of New Orleans on the occasion of the four-year anniversary of Hurricane Katrina's landfall.

The concert is free and open to the public. Doors will open at 2 p.m. The cathedral seats about 800 people. All non-reserved seating will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis.

The Marine Forces Reserve Band, headquartered in New Orleans, is under the leadership of Bandmaster, Master Sgt. Kevin M. Hunter. The band has traveled extensively throughout the United States and abroad, and offers a unique blend of traditional and contemporary music suitable for all ages and musical tastes.
