Marines mourn loss of Heede

CAMP PENDLETON– Marines here mourn the loss of one of there own. Sergeant Michael W. Heede Jr. died Monday, July 13 while supporting combat operations in Helmand province, Afghanistan.

Heede, a 22-year-old combat engineer from Delta, Pa., served with 1st Combat Engineer Battalion, 1st Marine Division.

He enlisted in the Marine Corps September 6, 2005.

Heede previously deployed with 2nd Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom from Advertisement

November,
2006 to April, 2007.

His personal service awards include the Combat Action Ribbon, Navy Unit Commendation Medal, Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and two Sea Service Deployment Ribbons.

The Marines and Sailors of 1st Marine Division mourn the loss of Sgt. Heede Jr. and send their heartfelt condolences to his family.
