I have a question for active the Marines:

What are the 30 MOS that are undermanned in the Corps?

Or put another way, the Low Density - High Demand MOS?

First re-enlistment are going to be tight & my son was trying to prepare in the event of a closed MOS.

you should post this in the 'ask a marine' forum... it doesn't belong here.

ask thedrifter to move it... don't double post.

B) MARINES REQUESTING LATERAL MOVES MAY BEGIN SUBMITTING REQUESTS ON 1 DECEMBER 2009. HOWEVER, CMC (MMEA) WILL ACCEPT LATERAL MOVE REQUESTS BEGINNING 1 JULY 2009 FOR THE FOLLOWING MOS': 0211, 0231, 0241, 0261, 0321, 0431, 0451, 0689, 0811, 0861, 2336, 2621, 2671, 2673, 2674, 2676, 2834, 3044, 4133, 4821, 5821, 5974, 6062, 6092, 6114, 6154, 6173, 6174, 6531, AND 7257.

If you lat move do you have to reenlist/extend?

Yes & If you received a Bonus, you must have met your obligation or pay a portion back.

Usally you negotiate a year before your enlistment is up unless they waive this because of a need by the Corps. (High Demand - Low Density)

Maybe a Marine can help us out here with a few details.

Yes your going to need to re-enlist/Extend. Depending on when your EAS is, I'm an "out fiscal" meaning i EAS CY10 but since its in November its FY11 meaning i would have to wait to Re up had i not chose a critical MOS to lat move into.

Tommy:

Besides Tanks, no other MOS peaked your interest?

Tanks is an amazing experience, but right now air traffic controller is looking like a great deal yes its high stress but going from ground to the wing side sounds pretty nice, as does getting out of 29 palms, and having an MOS that can transfer into the civilian world at some point is a great thing.

Most Marines have an advantage over the average worker when being interviewed no matter what the MOS.

As far as I'm concerned character still maters along with motavation & discipline. IMO
