Warrant officer dies in Afghanistan

WASHINGTON, Mo. — An Okinawa, Japan-based Marine has died in Afghanistan.
The Defense Department announced Thursday that Marine Chief Warrant Officer 2 Ricky L. Richardson Jr. died Wednesday while supporting combat operations in the western Afghan province of Farah.
The 33-year-old from the Franklin County, Mo., town of Sullivan was assigned to the 9th Engineer Support Battalion, 3rd Marine Logistics Group, III Marine Expeditionary Force in Okinawa.
Richardson entered the Corps in April 1996. He was an explosive ordnance disposal technician.
Relatives told KTVI-TV that Richardson was killed while dismantling bombs.
