He also forgot O-11 and he didn't include Navy rank structure.

Try harder, you will be learning this stuff one way or the other.

O-11 would make great trivia for Navy Rank Structure. Hey there, Napalm, name the rank of O-11 and describe the devices such an officer would wear.

It was a joke for the Marines and a test for napalm. At least No Remorse got it!

Napalm, that's good information to post on here. You get a gold star for the day!

sleeve = 1 star and 4 small stripes and a thicker stripe at the bottom
shoulder = 5 stars in a circle and what appears to be an anchor(image is fairly small)

Good follow through.

Name at least one Fleet Admiral of the Navy and his duties.

You'll win yourself some more knowledge and a chance at PT. 20 four-count pushups and 20 four-count mountain climbers.

It was awarded to 4 naval officers during the second World War....

You do... but it still doesn't count towards finding the duties. You can quadruple your pushups or do them until Adm. Nimitz is tired.

Carry on.

Fleet Admiral of the United States Navy (FADM), or more commonly referred to as Fleet Admiral, is a five-star (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/5_star_rank) flag officer (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flag_officer) rank and is presently considered the highest possible rank in the United States Navy (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Navy). A special grade of Admiral of the Navy (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Admiral_of_the_Navy_(United_States)), which ranks above Fleet Admiral, does exist but has only been confirmed once in the history of the Navy. Fleet Admiral ranks immediately above admiral (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Admiral_(United_States)) and is equivalent to General of the Army (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/General_of_the_Army_(United_States)) and General of the Air Force (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/General_of_the_Air_Force_(United_States)); there is no established equivalent five-star rank in the other four uniformed services (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uniformed_services_of_the_United_States). The Fleet Admiral rank is reserved for war-time use only and the grade is not currently active in the 21st century military

Let's add more fun to it. A group of 3 officers are approaching you. You outdoors, not in a working party, are in your Service Charlies and covered. The group of officers consists of one male Marine Captain, one female Marine Captain and one male Navy Captain.

1) How many salutes are you required to cut.

2) Who do you greet first? How and why?

3) If coming up behind this group, what side do you pass them on, if any?

You earn 20 bends and thrusts for each correct answer.

An incorrect answer earns you the bends and thrusts as well as 10 Blood n Guts.

A barf bag and a gallon or two of water are recommended if you want to survive.

napalm
02-06-09, 03:01 PM
1. once
2. you greet them as a group with proper greeting such as good afternoon mam and gentleman
3. side/direction doesnt matter

1. Good... it goes without saying that you would wait until they have rendered their salutes before ending yours.

2. Good job on this one; although a stickler would prefer Good afternoon, ma'am. Good afternoon, gentlemen.

3. You were doing so well.... Add 10 Blood N Guts to your prescribed PT and get me an answer that isn't unsat.

As for everyone else, I hope you enjoy your weekend. I'll be back on Sunday or Monday.

There were two Generals of the Armys ... Pershing and Washington .. Washington is senior among the two. Neither had an 0-11 pay grade and actually Washington was a 2 star.

I don't think it says anything about when they were in service, or if they still are in service.

Yes, they just replace the CWO insignia on the left collar with the Bursting Bomb insignia.

Worked for a Marine Gunner Alexander in 1st MarDiv Ordnance. This guy refused to salute 2dLt's at any time and had the General chewing his azz for not doing it. The guy had over 30 years active so I would say he gets a pass.

Go a little bit deeper. If you're passing from the right how would they see you cut a salute?

Still, you've earned some supplementary PT. No more answering questions with question! Get some!!!:flag:

I saw a SgtMaj walking out of the px one time in Alphas and he passed a 2nd Lt and didn't salute him. The Lt asked, "Excuse me Sgt Major, don't I rate a salute?". The Sgt Major looked at him and said, "Son, when you can climb up my stipes (pointed to his service stripes) then I'll salute you".

I smiled and walked off just looking at this boot Lt with a dumbfounded look on his face.

I just met a Marine Gunner and worked with him for a bit a few months ago here in Iraq. This guy was hardcore for real. He was a straight field Marine, blouse tucked into his trousers for easy access to his 1911 that was condition 1 at all times, he didn't give a **** or take **** from anyone. He would call lieutenants by their first name and everything.

But i guess when you've been in 28 years and still live in a swa hut outside the wire you can do that kind of stuff.

That SgtMaj deserved to punished in some way.

Your time in service doesnt rate you breaking the rules.

02-09-09, 12:37 PM
Punished how? Are you going to be the one to step in and put the Sgt Major in his place? With rank and time in service comes latitude regarding some regulations. The Sgt Majors point was the Lt is a boot and I bet you'd be hard pressed to find a Sgt Major who is going to let a 2nd Lt dress him down like that. The Lt would have to have balls the size of cantaloupes or just be crazy.

There was an old gunner in 5th Marines when I was there Gunner Mack. He had been in the Corps forever. His words and I quote ... asked by a female captain why no salute ... I do not salute ****s.

Edit .... it ryhmes with runts

No, I would not correct him. that wouldnt be my place to.

I'm simply stating rank/tos does not rate you to break reg's.

Guess we should excuse a SgtMaj for DUI as well.

Are you purposely following my posts just to be an ass to me?

Just noticing - you did correct his post this time. I don't believe he was instructing Marines to disrespect officers but rather sharing a funny story. Should the condition persist a restraining order could be called for... Make sure to submit your request to the mods, allowing 10-14 working days and be sure to press hard enough to be legible on the bottommost copy. Semper Fi! :usmc:

Correct, I did go off a bit, and should have been more careful.
The mod's have taken care of our other arguments, and I have sent a PM to him apologizing.

Case closed.
