Semper Gumby, always flexible. Remember that, things will happen at a moments notice and your husband will have to roll with it, which means you will have to as well. Just stay flexible.

what is your husbands name? i just got out here for MOS school as well. Just be patient especially because none of us really know what is going on out here. Our schools arent picking up for a while from what we are being told.

My husbands name is B.J. Thomas and his MOS is Information System Specialist I think. He landed in L.A. a day or 2 ago.

IT specialist, huh? Is he going to Ground Communications/Electronics School at 29 Palms?

How long is the school (I was there for Field Radio operator in 1997/8) for that?

Which coast is he thinking of picking as a duty station?

Basically, flexibility, as someone above stated, will be the key to dealing with what is coming. That, and a sense of humor about things.

Yeah I think thats what his job is, I know he is at 29 palms now but he won't be picked up for about a month to start school. It's about 5 or 6 months long I believe, no ones really given him specifics yet but he's talked to someone who's a couple of months ahead of him for the same thing. I'm pretty sure he's gonna pick the east coast because thats closer to home for us but were both cool with wherever we go so i'm not worried about it.

A month in holding....that's gonna suck for sure. He'll be doing various and sundry details while he's waiting. Such is the way of things tho.

thomas is your husband? thats crazy, he was in my platoon at bootcamp. he was in 1080 right? haha. yeah he got screwed over at MCT. they made them wait a week before they were picked up. so yeah he is gonna have to wait about a month to get picked up then his school is atleast 5-6 months. im a 2800, data communications, and we have to wait a good while to pick up also. im going to try to go home on recruiters assistance next week.

yeah he was in 1080, he thought about recruiters assistance but I don't think he could get it, I'm not sure. We drove him to MCT and he was 10 min late so he didn't get picked up, it sucked. That was such a long drive.

My best advice to you is to NEVER drop him off for a military obligation 10 minutes late. Or 2 minutes late. Plan to be 15 minutes early & then 15 minutes early for that. Don't push your luck.

yeah we figured that out, but everything was ok and we learned our lesson. Were not gonna do that again. Thanks for the advise everyone.
