To one and all.
I just found out this morning, from my Marine son, that some information that I had received about my son's promotion to Corporal prior to leaving for Kuwait, was premature. Unfortunately I allowed my pride, for his achievement, to post this information to the members of this website. I'm very sorry to have misled each and everyone of you. Heck, I don't like being misled myself! Being the third party to information is an iffy proposition, to say the least.
The great news, based on this mornings conversation with my Marine son, is that on May 2, 2003 he was meritoriously promoted to Corporal for combat related actions. The promotion ceremony occured this last week at Camp Lejeune.
Lessons learned? You bet. If you want information about a loved one it is best to hear it from the loved one.
Once again, I am sorry if I misled anyone.
My best to all.
Gary

Congrats to your Marine!

We all learned from your experience. I doubt anyone would hold it against you.

**** happens, Osotogary. We all get caught that way once in awhile. It's good to verify the facts, as difficult as that can sometimes be.

BTW kids. That's integrity ya saw there.

Outstanding pics Gary! Thanks for sharing them with us.
The pic of your son on the radio needs a caption. (Could it be contest time?)

A very fine looking Marine, you can be very proud of him. If only
we could be young again and kicking a** and taking names. But
we had your time and now it's up to the New Breed.

In the one where he is holding the picture he kind of looks like Caparzo form Saving Private Ryan (Vin Desil right?)

He does look like Vin. For those looking forward to entering the USMC (like myself), I think that these pics give more motivation to be part of something above your self and having fun while doing it. That pic with all the boys was a reminder of being part of a family and thats what makes it all the more meaningful
