Hello, I'm kind of a skinny guy 6' 150lbs and trying to gain weight because I know most people lose weight at boot. But I was wondering how much weight you lost, or gained if you did, at bootcamp?

-Thanks in advance-

I lost 35 pounds fast, but then i put back on like 10-15 on muscle when I started to workout.

I lost 22 lbs at the Depot and gained 17 on boot leave!

Boot camp food sucks for nutritional value.

Im 5'6-5'7. Went in around 130. At one point I weighed 113, granted it was up North and times were tough, but I gained alot of muscle back after 2nd phase. Right now Im sitting at a healthy 125-130.

jfweeden, if you're skinny enough you'll get put on double rations. Ideally, heavy recruits will lose weight and skinny recruits will gain weight. I went in at 5'11" and 145 and left weighing 168

Thank you all for the replies. I ship out in late Jan. so i was hoping to put on about 10 lbs before then. I think i'll lose some weight in 1st phase and then gain it back in my legs from running, in 2nd and 3rd phase. Anyway, thanks again for the replies.

6' and 150? Im 5'8 and went in 180, and left 150. I've since put a steady 10 lbs since boot camp, and that was 8 months ago. I didn't like the way I looked when I got out. First words out of my recruiters mouth after I pulled up along side of him where " Holy ****, I didn't even realize who you where. You look like a cancer patient"

If your already skinny, you probly won't loose much more weight. If any at all. You might even put on weight. I had a few buddys that actually put on weight at bootcamp.

Just get alot of extra bread, and penut butter and jelly. You'll be suprised at how much you will actually like it while your there. I still havn't been able to eat it since ive been home. I ate way to much of that crap there.

If you go in skinny, you come out skinnier.

If you go in fat, you come out pretty decent.

I went in at 6' and 145lbs. I was on double rats and still left boot camp at only 129 lbs.

I lost 15 pounds..probably more and gained muscle because I went down 3 pant sizes. They'll put you on double rats if you lose too much weight.

Went weighing 190, left at 160, went to ITB at 175 or so.
You will be fine as you will gain some of the weight back on leave or at SOI.

Most of what you will gain back initially will be water weight.

Jake

I was a 24 year old athelete when I hit the yellow foot prints at SD MCRD 5'10" 150 pounds 13% body fat after graduation and going home on leave I was 146 pound with 9 % body fat... I had a super fast metabilism before during and after the Corps through my Army Medical Retirement then as the medical issues and mobility have slowed I put on some healthy fat an up around 178 pounds..

Jake I wouldn't sweat the weight issue at all.. If your worried ask for double rations, scotts emolition n liquid vitamins from the sick bay and being 6' and 150 you'll be granted some slack so the pounds will go on solid n lean.. If the above is used which it used to be issued expect to convert 5 or so pounds of fat and pack on an aditional 10 or so pounds... So some where between 145 and 168 would be a good guess with out knowing more details etc... while in recruit training...

Good Luck and God Speed in your challenge for the EGA...

Thank you Sgt.. I'll use what you said to hopefully gain some weight while I'm down there. I would like to gain a few pounds down there but if not, I'll just gain it when I get to SOI. I'm looking forward to get down there and earn that EGA.

-Thanks again-

Jake
